Catch up tomorrow (Tuesday)!!
Happy bank holiday afternoon lovely people ☀️ I’m currently hiding under the parasol in the garden absolutely covered head to toe in SPF 50 because apparently my skin and eyes were not designed for this level of sunshine!!! As much as the sun personally victimises me every single year… I still love sitting out in it 😂❤️ Just a little reminder that our catch up session is tomorrow evening and after the last one I have a feeling this one is going to be VERY good.... What started as introductions and life updates somehow turned into a huge conversation about women building technology that actually matters, the opportunity window we’re currently in with AI, and what we could create together over the next couple of years if we stop waiting for permission and just start building.....the energy in that call was Soooooo good. So tomorrow night we’re carrying it on ✨ Bring your ideas, random thoughts, things you’ve seen online, projects you’ve been thinking about, half formed “this might be stupid but…” ideas… all of it. Can’t wait to see you all, enjoy the rest of your bank holiday❤️

Apologies, I've been silent here for over a week. I was away co-organising a digital medical education conference (ASME Show & TEL which went amazingly well). Then on day I returned home my mum was taken ill 🙁 she is recovering in hospital. I hope to start catching up with everything I've missed with this network when things settle down and mum gets discharged. TTFN

Job Opportunities
Hello 👋 I've been listening at recent online chats and heard that some of you are actively seeking employment or maybe a role change. Others in the Network have talked about mentoring roles working with fabulously talented Tech Women. With this is mind I thought I would start a thread here for sharing tech job opportunities that you feel might be of interest to members of the group. Ones where you have real world connections with the employers who are advertising. Perhaps helping with discovery of roles you might not previously picked up via your searches on job hunting websites. For anyone who is new to this Network, the chat yesterday evening reinforced the wealth of experience within this Network in all things connected with the application and interview processes. So if you find a role posted here that you are interested in this Network could probably boost your confidence and chances of success!

Thursday curiosity….
what’s something about your day-to-day job that would make people outside of your role go“…sorry WHAT??” because I’ve had one of those moments today and I’m still not over it 🤣🙈 it’s only my third day… still trying to act normal, still nodding along like “yep yep I know what’s going on here”…and I spotted a few things in the community that were being done manually, that really didn’t need to be…. so I just went off, automated a few bits, tidied things up, made life easier where I could… nothing crazy (in my head anyway 🙈) next thing I know I’ve got a message off my manager like “how did I do this job without you?” 😂…. which is obviously lovely BUT also??? it’s been 3 days calm down 🤣🙈 AND THEN… at 12pm I get told “you’ve done more than enough work this morning, go take a nap or something and come back at 3pm” 😭😂 A NAP???…. in the middle of the day???…. I was fully sat there looking at my screen like… is this a test??….. do I say no??…. do I pretend I’ve got loads on?? 🤣 because in my old world if you stopped moving for 5 minutes someone was asking questions… and now I’m being told to go have a lie down like I’ve had a big morning at nursery 😂🙈 I can’t tell if this is luxury or I’ve accidentally joined a cult but either way… I’m not mad about it 🤣 and it got me thinking… there are SO many moments in our jobs that would sound completely unhinged to someone on the outside… the weird wins…. the random messages… the stuff that just becomes normal to us but would make no sense to anyone else so, please tell me…. what’s happened in your job that would make people go“nah you’re chatting rubbish” 😂….. answers in the comments. I hope you are all having a great week ✨❤️😘

Believe me when I say never let the "how did you know how to do that" 💡 moments get old. Always pure gold. 🤣
Please take my survey for IEEE Software
Hi All, It's that time every two months when I run a survey for my IEEE Software column "The Question" and then write a column from the results. If you have a couple of minutes to spare can you please fill it in and share it on Linkedin. https://www.linkedin.com/posts/sueblack_ai-programming-tech-activity-7444715799480619008-YNG4?utm_source=share&utm_medium=member_desktop&rcm=ACoAAAAI6J4B0kWejXAplsgAOZt5a9OkKwzEaFE I need to write the column over the weekend and submit it on Monday (I never leave anything till the last moment! 🤪) Thanks so much Sxx

This is a timely post and questionnaire to read. Yesterday a year 2 medical student came to my office door (which I deliberately leave open) drawn by the "what do I do" note on the door saying "digital education and student experience". Later this year they will be embarking on a research and development project focusing on healthcare app development. One of the questions they wanted to explore was "is it worth me learning to code?". Maybe over the Easter break I will find time to write a post to summarise how that conversation unfolded. We talked for a very long time! Look forward to reading your column on this. 🔥

I am constantly curious to explore new opportunities and bring over 20 years’ experience in digital education within higher education. Time poor!
