If I gave you a bowl of dirty water and asked you to purify the water, well then most would say to filter it or boil it. To take some kind of action to get the result. To get the result of clean and pure water. There is however another way. We could simply do nothing at all, and allow the dirt to fall and settle to the bottom of the bowl. The water would then be clean and free of dirt, as the dirt would only be at the bottom. Your mind is the water, the dirt is just dirt — be it good or bad dirt — and often times our moods change, or we have cloudy thoughts…this is because we are thinking. Whenever you begin thinking, you begin to take action; that action is the use of using a stick to stir the bowl of clean water with the dirt at the bottom. Hence, if you do enough thinking then you will get the result of cloudy and murky water — or to put it more forward, your mind would be cloudy and murky, which would then trigger negative emotions. When you find your mood changing in some negative way, simply pay attention to whether or not the stick within your mind is thinking and stirring up the dirt. Once you become aware of this, you can then tell yourself “The dirt is just dirt.” and smile — without judgment of the thoughts stirred up — and then Let Go of the thinking stick and allow the thinking to calm itself on its own…soon the dirt will settle and the water (mind) will be made pure again. This is also why it’s a very good idea to start your mornings in a calmer present-moment type of way, as it will make it much easier for you to realize when your mind of “dirty water” becomes murky from too much thinking. Start your morning with a settled mind, so you can keep your mind more clear throughout the day. This will then allow you to keep your emotional state more balanced, which will in turn give you more peace, love, joy, and energy. (I gained this insight from a great book I’m reading called “Don’t believe everything you think” by Joseph Nguyen.) Much love 💜💚.
