When you're writing your resume, you don't need to list every single job you ever had since high school. I used to see this all the time when I screened resumes and not only were the jobs completely irrelevant to the job they were applying for, but it also dated the candidate. Recruiters aren't allowed to ask your age, but they can do math, so if you're listing your job from 1987 we can kind of tell your age range. That won't matter to everyone, but why give anyone a reason to pass you over? Remember, the resume gets you in the door. Don't give employers a reason to close it before they even speak to you. Tell me what jobs you can keep off your resume from now on.

when I graduated college I worked in human service agencies as a direct care worker for a few years at a few different organizations. I put those on my resume for years even when it didn't make sense. When I finally decided to take them off it felt really weird because it felt like I was lying by leaving them off, but the truth was they just didn't matter anymore. Now, the skills I gained go in the skills section and the jobs get left off.

This is what I would do now after being home for 8 years
If I were going back to work now after 8 years at home, this is what I would do this week: 1. Pick one job category to focus on 2. Review 3 job descriptions 3. Translate my daily responsibilities into skills that are relevant to the job descriptions It's not about doing everything at once. It's taking small steps so you can move forward. Which one seems the most accessible to you?

@Holly Lewis yup! 💯 If you were someone who wasn't comfortable using AI what approach do you think you'd take?
What will you do?
When an event or circumstance comes at you and you feel the gut punch, you get thrown off balance. This happens to everyone at some point, but how you respond will make all the difference. This applies to the job search (there are lots of moments where you might want to give up) and it also applies to everything. So when life happens and it knocks you to the ground, what will you do? Tell me 👇🤗

What will you do?
Are you stopping or growing?
The way you frame thoughts in your mind makes a different in your energy and how you show up. Consider these two statements 🫣I can't do that and I'll never be able to. 😃I'm learning that skill and I'm making mistakes but I'll get there One is a hard no - full stop - no growth 🚫🧱 One is possibility - curiosity - lots of growth 🧐🤯 The reality is the same. You still don't have that skill, but your thoughts about it make all the difference. The no growth thought will hold you back and keep you from trying. The growth thought opens doors and keeps you moving forward. Where is an area of your life where you can turn a no growth thought into moving forward?
