Hello everyone! I have just moved from Washington state (8a-9b, a cool, moist climate) to west Tennessee (7a much warmer). My yard is small and is almost a total โ€œblank slateโ€. Our โ€œcourtyard in Washington was our โ€œhappy placeโ€ (see pics) and we hope to turn our yard of grass into another lovely garden area. I know I will have questions to ask as we begin, but thought I would show you what we did in WA. I had my flowers in pots, but then my husband made a wooden โ€œcontainerโ€ for me.

Pretty Foliage Plants That Look โ€œDesignedโ€ (Even in January)
January can feel a littleโ€ฆ beige. The garden beds are sleeping, the patio pots are quiet, and even the sun seems to clock out early. But hereโ€™s the good news: ๐Ÿ๐จ๐ฅ๐ข๐š๐ ๐ž ๐ฉ๐ฅ๐š๐ง๐ญ๐ฌ ๐š๐ซ๐ž ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐ฐ๐ข๐ง๐ญ๐ž๐ซ ๐ฌ๐ก๐จ๐ฐ-๐จ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ๐ฌ. They donโ€™t need blooms to look stunning. In fact, the right leaves can make your home (or plant nook!) look like you hired a designer. Below are some โ€œ๐ข๐ง๐ฌ๐ญ๐š๐ง๐ญ ๐ฌ๐ญ๐ฒ๐ฅ๐žโ€ foliage plants that look polished even on your most tired winter day. Plus quick tips to keep them looking their best. ๐Ÿ) ๐๐จ๐ญ๐ก๐จ๐ฌ (๐†๐จ๐ฅ๐๐ž๐ง, ๐Œ๐š๐ซ๐›๐ฅ๐ž ๐๐ฎ๐ž๐ž๐ง, ๐๐ž๐จ๐ง, ๐‚๐ž๐›๐ฎ ๐๐ฅ๐ฎ๐ž) ๐–๐ก๐ฒ ๐ข๐ญ ๐ฅ๐จ๐จ๐ค๐ฌ ๐๐ž๐ฌ๐ข๐ ๐ง๐ž๐: trailing vines instantly soften shelves, bookcases, and corners. ๐‰๐š๐ง๐ฎ๐š๐ซ๐ฒ-๐Ÿ๐ซ๐ข๐ž๐ง๐๐ฅ๐ฒ ๐ญ๐ข๐ฉ: give it a bright window if possible, but it handles medium light well. Let the top inch or two of soil dry before watering. ๐’๐ญ๐ฒ๐ฅ๐ž ๐ญ๐ซ๐ข๐œ๐ค: put it up high and let it spill down โ€” instant โ€œplant stylistโ€ vibes.
