That's the difference between having a skill and owning a business. A common mistake new entrepreneurs make is thinking…. "I'm really good at this, so I should start a business doing it." You can bake, so you open a bakery. The problem isn't the talent. The problem is that the skill is only one component of the business. You may know how to produce the service, but do you know how to price it? Do you know how to calculate your costs and profit margins? Do you know how to negotiate with customers? Do you know how to create contracts? Do you understand taxes, bookkeeping, inventory, staffing, marketing, customer acquisition, cash flow, purchasing, supplier relationships, equipment maintenance, and operations? Because once you become the owner, you're no longer being paid simply for what you can do with your hands.
