And sometimes it just HAS a lot of stuff!
The interpretation of this design is of an ancient agricultural terrace. This Design has very strong lines, both vertical and horizontal, but as you look at it, you can almost see the different crops being grown as represented by the dried and painted Garlic (yellow and purple) and red Waratah (first cousin to the King Protea) and the naturally dried green palm leaf. The Birch stems represent the vertical climb of the land, the strong horizontals show us how the terraces were placed. The Principle of Design for this one is BALANCE - this designer actually has such a strong vertical line that adding the horizontal lines created a counter-balance to stabilize. And there is more balance to be seen! By placing the heavier materials at the base of the design, and gradually getting smaller with the Garlic, they create a gravitational balance. And there is more! By the choice of the materials used, this design shows you how balance lets your eye go and does not stop it. To achieve that, BALANCE depends heavily on the Element Texture for this design. Look at the Textures that are used just by choice of plant materials. Take a look at the base - the 'container' for this design is nothing more than a 12 x 12 x 2 piece of wood with holes drilled into it.

FT Worth Flower Show
Just got back from judging the Ft. Worth, TX small standard flower show and I have to say it was a really good show! As a master Flower Show judge, I really enjoy going and judging outside of my immediate area because the ideas! The creativity! The new things I learn every time! I'm going to edit a few of the pictures that were taken and post them in the Design Chat this next week and tell you a little bit about them so you can see that Design for competition is very very different from design for your personal life. But the principles and elements are always the same.

I'll look forward to seeing those, I'm definitely not at that standard yet, (no where near) but my family has had so many amazing gardeners and then there's me!
Tonight we name our "Coffee hour"
I really don't care for the title of the bi-weekly live chat and I am questioning the time as well - let's get together if you have time and come up with something we ALL like! Also I have some new items to roll out and I want to hear what you think! If you have time and want to come - at the top of the page look for the Calendar tab. Click on it and then click on today's live chat it will let you join the chat right from there. No need to go to another platform just click the link - and you're in! 🙂 See you at 8:30 pm Central Daylight Time

OUR FIRST POLL!
Some of you may have received your drips and inside of them was a Preservation drip discussing how we pivoted from frozen to canned due to a electrical issue and the freezer no longer freezing. I wondered what else you might have done or would have preferred to do?

A jam session sounds like fun, although we used to make lots of rhubarb jam when I was younger and I hated having to prepare the rhubarb
