Just a few hours ago, ChatGPT got a new upgrade! This morning I was working with 4o and just now I’m seeing GPT5 as the default model. Heres a quick and realistic overview of what this is supposed to do: 1) No more extra model versions. Before when using chatGPT there were about 5 to 10 different options. 4o, 4o mini, 3, 3 mini, o1, and it got extremely confusing. V5 is now the default and expected to handle switching to right model automatically for you. 2) Probably the biggest update is the improved context windows, aka how much memory it can handle in a chat thread. GPT 4o had a context windows of 128,000 tokens and now V5 has 256,000 tokens, double the memory. The simple version of what this means is chat can now hold bigger projects, multi-day conversations, or huge codebases in its “active brain” without forgetting as many details as quickly. 3) Supposedly v5 is expected to cut hallucinations significantly, up to 65% less than some prior models. 4) Improved coding logic for better vibe coding. 5) New personalities & customizable chat themes. 6) Expecting better integration into gmail & google calendar. ChatGPT also recently released Agent mode but tbh i’m not a fan. For agentic ai via cloud computers my go to is still ManusAI. So theres the quick and simplified version of what GPT5 comes with.
