I've been MIA for a bit and working on a few new things...
I have the same autoimmune illness as my son. In adults, it's called CIRS (Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome). Although, if you've been going through the classroom content you know that PANDAS and PANS is CIRS. Jayden and I have been on the Shoemaker protocol and we've both been doing great! Of course, when you live in the same homes full of biotoxins, and the HLA genes are hereditary, multiple members of the same family can often get sick from biotoxins. That's kind of what happens and I've seen it happen with multiple families. Recovery is never a straight line. Especially when recovering from a complex autoimmune illness. And recently, Jayden was re-exposed to mold at his grandparents house which set his treatment back weeks. But, overall and over time, we're both getting better. Here's what that looks like for both of us: - Flaring still happens but it doesn't last as long and recovery is much faster - Energy capacity slowly expands and we're both getting stronger (for me personally, I couldn't pull my body weight up with my arms to climb a fence and now I can, easily! That's my metabolic health returning 🙏) - Moods and motivation are much better and more consistent - dopamine and hormone levels are starting to stabilize - Stress isn't such a big trigger any more - if Jayden was ever under any pressure to get something done, he would flare. Now he doesn't. - The peptides and supplements we could never take before, are now being taken at full doses. It took over a year to titrate VIP (the last step of the Shoemaker protocol) to a full dose. Because these setbacks are part of recovery, I give myself permission to go only as fast as I can go and honour my body and it's recovery process. Jayden has also learned this. Health is #1 and everything he does revolves around his capacity and well being. He knows this so well at this point, that it's just the way he does everything - by listening to his body and knowing what it means when he has setbacks.

What Proper Testing Looks Like
This course is coming soon! Testing your home for biotoxins with regard to health is much different than testing done by contractors or standard home inspectors. Testing, cleaning and remediating your environment is critical for recovery. If you need this information immediately, comment here to let me know and I'll direct you to the proper resources.
Why the same treatment works for one child and fails for another
If you've been in the PANDAS and PANS Facebook groups, you see this all the time. Every one of these is being recommended right now in these groups (which is one of the best sources of information rn). Some parents swear by them. Others tried the exact same thing and it made their child worse. Methylene blue, hydroxychloroquine, antibiotics, homeopathy, juicing, zeolite, charcoal, IVIG, essential oils, low dose naltrexone, carnivore diet, hyperbaric oxygen, bee venom, helminth therapy, ozone, IVIG, curcumin, CBD oil, colloidal silver, borax, chlorine dioxide, castor oil packs, frequency machines, infrared saunas, stem cells, fecal transplants, peptides, high dose vitamin C, chelation, antifungals, plasma exchange, LDA immunotherapy, transfer factor, camel milk... 😵‍💫 It starts to feel like playing Russian roulette with your child's condition and your own sanity. So which one do you pick? And when it doesn't work, what then?? And why does this happen? The reason is because your child is at a different stage of illness. ➡️ Why the same treatment gets different results. Dr. Neil Nathan spent 50 years treating the most complex patients in this space. And he noticed something important. ✨The longer somebody stays in a chronic inflammatory state, the more their systems break down. ✨ The nervous system becomes hyper reactive, the immune system stops regulating itself, mast cells start firing at everything. And at a certain point, the child can't even tolerate the supplements that would help them. (Source: Dr. Neil Nathan, Non Toxic Environments interview, 2022. Full transcript available in project files. His book Toxic covers the treatment sensitivity concept in depth.) Nathan also noticed the same inflammatory process looks different depending on when it hits. In young children, it shows up as autism or developmental delays. In kids aged 3 to 13, it looks like PANDAS or PANS. In adults in their 20s to 40s, it becomes chronic fatigue or fibromyalgia. And later in life, it presents as Alzheimer's or Parkinson's. It's the same process with a different label based on timing.

@Marie Kiovsky I think the depth of illness concept is the most misunderstood. It looks like there's a lot of new science coming out on how this is also an autism pathway within the same systems on an even deeper scale.

@Aimee Martin yes this is something more specialists, and also parents, need to understand. 🙏
The most overlooked driver of PANDAS and PANS might be your own home.
The mold that drives this illness often can't be seen at all. A pipe leaks behind a wall, dries out, and leaves growth hidden inside the house with no stain and no smell. And it isn't the mold itself that harms your child. It's the biotoxins it releases which are tiny poisons that float through the air and settle into the body. For 1 in 4 people, these biotoxins cause the immune system to react and it can't shut off the response, so the body stays inflamed and stuck. It won't affect everyone in the house the same way. Most people clear these toxins just fine. That's why the house gets ruled out so quickly, when for some, it's the thing behind it all. For a child with PANDAS or PANS, this matters more than almost anything. A hidden mold load keeps the immune system worn down, so every infection on top of that hits harder and pulls them deeper into systems failure. Your home is either helping your child heal or working against it. Where biotoxins are most commonly found: - Water damaged homes, from roof leaks, plumbing leaks, or flooding - Bathrooms with poor ventilation, behind tiles, under sinks, around tubs and showers - Basements and crawl spaces that stay damp without a dehumidifier - Behind walls and under flooring where old leaks dried unseen - HVAC systems, air ducts, and air conditioning units that hold moisture - Around windows with condensation, drafts from cold air or past leaks - Front loading washing machines, dishwashers, and fridge drip trays - Damp carpets, rugs, and furniture that got wet and never fully dried - Ceiling tiles and drywall that were touched by any water leak - Attics with roof leaks or poor ventilation - Schools and older public buildings with a history of water damage - Cars that have had leaks, flooding, or damp carpets A simple dust test can help you detect if there's mold and point you in the right direction to building a clean environment. Many parents say that simply by moving to a clean home, their child gets significantly better. Others will need treatment because they're locked in cell danger response.

@Aimee Martin perfect! Sounds like you're aware of the issues which is half the battle 🦾
What do you need now?
All day yesterday in my region we had a huge amount of rain and then a power outage last night for at least 6 hours or more. This morning I'm seeing post after post on Facebook about flooded basements, and in some homes the water came up through the toilets. That's sewage. Endotoxins, not just mold and biotoxins, and they drive immune activation on their own. Most people have no idea how dangerous this is to their health. Water sitting in an enclosed space for 48 hours is all it takes. After that, microbial growth follows, whether anyone can see it or not. For PANDAS and PANS kids, the very first step to recovery is getting into a clean environment. We cannot heal in the environment that made us sick. If you watched the first video series, Symptoms vs Systems, you'll understand that toxic load is the reason our kids are getting sick. And water damaged buildings are a big part of that load. One of the biggest missing pieces in the PANS and PANDAS treatment world is the foundation in the CIRS world. Every single CIRS protocol starts the same way: Dr Nathan, Dr Crista, Dr McMahon, Dr Holtorf, Dr Shoemaker, Dr Hoffman - all of them. Different treatments, different sequencing, different opinions on almost everything else. But every one of them removes the exposures before treating anything. And that includes biotoxins. Nobody argues about that part. You cannot detox a child faster than a building is loading them back up. I know how impossible that feels when you're in the middle of a crisis. When my son, Jayden was in extreme flares for years, I was trying to hold my family together and figure out how to clean up our environment at the same time and that was traumatizing on its own. I have so much information to give you and help guide you through this illness. But I want to give you what you need most RIGHT NOW. Tell me what you need first.

@Aimee Martin our homes are not built with health in mind, unfortunately. Outdoor mold is competing with a thousand other organisms and losing most of the time. Inside a wall, it has no competition at all, and the species that win in there are the ones that make the most toxins. That's not the same mold you smell in the woods after rain. And since most of us were never educated about this, we get sick from the toxic load over time and never connect it to an overwhelmed immune system that can come from the buildings we live in. But, although overwhelming at first, once you get a grasp on how and why this happens its much easier to find or fix or maintain a clean home. And it's great to hear that you're connecting the dots in your situation!

@Marie Kiovsky exactly. Very few people seem to understand that.
