Criminal facts in Portugal
Because there is crime in Portugal (it's not a paradise...), I'll place some ocasional news about the subject here. Seven people were convicted to prison (7Y9M to 16 years) for a total of 36 robberies. Last night a speed boat entered the Guadiana river, but was detected by Portugal's surveilance system. After noticing the presence of GNR and spanish police, and in order to flee to spanish waters, they dropped 38 bales into the river, that were later retrieved by GNR, seizing then over 1,5 tons of hashish. https://www.cmjornal.pt/portugal/detalhe/apreendidas-mais-de-1-5-toneladas-de-haxixe-no-rio-guadiana

Last night GNR arrested 7 men (4 portuguese and 3 illegal foreigners) in a beach in Aljezur, when they were waiting for a speedboat carrying drugs. Cultural events (just the tip of the iceberg...)
This month is celebrated the 500th anniversary of the birth of the most famous portuguese poet, Luís Vaz de Camões. For that reason, the Lisbon Metro signed a partnership with Biblioteca Nacional de Portugal (Portugal's National Library), so Metro travellers can have easy access to his poetry. Lisbon Metro placed posters with QR codes that allow you to listen to excerpts from Camões' most emblematic poems, performed by actor André Gago. Douro's 'Trinca Espinhas', from Montanha, which is very enjoyable on these hot days over here in The Bay. What does 'Trinca Espinhas' mean? Surprisngly it's NOT crisp and tasty, which would make a lot of sense!
