Thanks @Casey Fox This is a huge topic, and one worth digging into! @Rich Guy is absolutely right, it does start in the soil! The microorganisms that populate healthy soil are part of a community that literally created every, living, thing. Microorganisms are the work force that decompose lingering chemicals and organic material, promote healthy plants, create soil structure, and establish resiliency. While the organic label may prevent specific toxic chemicals (at the time of certification) from being used, imo it falls short of the attention needed to foster soil life. Ive worked on a number of organic farms and for the most part, on small scales, organic farmers are towing the line while trying to be attentive to nature as a whole. The organic label was originally created by small farms to differentiate between Big Ag and farms using natural methods. Now 'organic' had morphed into a similar model as the Big Ag companies. They're mostly mechanistic, extractive, and rely on heavy inputs like pesticide, herbicide, and fertilizer. So even upholding the strict regulations, still leaves something to be desired imo. If I may. We've outsourced our understanding of health to corporations and regulatory bodies that often, if not always, have their eye on profit over health. I believe it takes paying VERY close attention to how nature functions without human intervention, to restore the systems we've broken. The soil holds so many secrets, many more than we can begin to imagine.

@Casey Fox its truly incredible how these organisms communicate and exchange nutrients, water, and information. Recently a scientist was able to get an even closer look at the fungal network and realized its a literal highway! Bacteria and other organisms travel along the hyphal strands to move around the soil. Nature is amazing ❤️
