Are you caring for your folks in SA from another part of the world
Quick tip for anyone caring for parents from abroad: If something happens suddenly — a fall, a hospital admission — do you know exactly where their medical aid details, ID, and next-of-kin contacts are? I always recommend putting together one simple "emergency folder" (physical or digital) with all of this in one place, so whoever's with your parents in the moment isn't scrambling or calling you at 2am to find a policy number. Even just doing this one thing makes a huge difference when something goes wrong.

🥣 The Secret to Lump-Free Pap! Making pap doesn't have to be a workout for your arm or leave you with frustrating lumps! ✅ Lekker Tip: Before adding all your maize meal, mix a small amount with cold water to form a smooth paste. Then slowly stir it into your boiling water while whisking continuously. Once smooth, gradually add the rest of the maize meal and stir well. 💡 Another trick: Sprinkle the maize meal slowly into the water instead of dumping it all in at once. The result? Smooth, fluffy, lump-free pap every time! 😋 👇 What's your secret pap-making tip? Share your kitchen wisdom with the community!

This is my recipe. My mom-in-law taught me how to make it this way. She was a farmer's wife. Delicious. I am in Australia and still make it this way. If I make it plain (no garlic) and there is left over I will fry two eggs and add it on top of the pap for breakfast. Make sure it is warmed up and add a dollop of butter (the real stuff). ENJOY.
