The Future of the Sysadmin Is Bright š
I want to talk about something I am genuinely excited about. It is a great time to be a sysadmin. Seriously. The role has never been more varied, more in demand, or more interesting to work in. Every organisation on the planet depends on IT infrastructure, and the people who know how to build, manage, and secure it are more valuable than ever. The skills we work with every day are evolving in the best possible way. Cloud platforms like Azure are extending what we can do. AI tools like Microsoft Copilot are making us faster and more capable. Automation is taking the repetitive stuff off our plates so we can focus on the work that actually requires our expertise and judgment. The sysadmin of today gets to work across on premises infrastructure, cloud environments, security, automation, and AI, all in the same career. That breadth is what makes this role so rewarding and so future proof. The fundamentals have never been more important either. DNS, Active Directory, networking, storage, security...everything in modern IT is built on top of these. Get them right and every new technology you encounter becomes easier to learn. That is what we are building here. A community of IT professionals who are confident in the fundamentals and excited about where the role is heading. The future of the sysadmin looks great. Let's build it together. šŖ What got you into IT? Drop it in the comments š ā Dan
