1 contribution to Van Life Australia
Researching Showering/toileting
So I have spent the past 3 days researching Van's, how others have utilised their space, how they have upgraded, downgraded, swapped out stuff and put it back again. I started collecting bookmarks of possibilities for my build as I want to still be able to have and use my own shower and toilet. So far I am looking at a compostable toilet and an infinity shower and I also want to build it to be hidden in a slide out wardrobe to maximise the space I will have as I have decided my first van with be a Toyota Hiace commuter with the already extended top and long wheel base. Thankfully I am quite short so height really wont be an issue for me I don't think. So to start with I am thinking of a simple showering system that I have seen work for a lot of people, The Iron Hammer Portable shower which you can find on Amazon here https://amzn.to/4e8QiXg The appeal to this one to start with while I save for something better is the portable electric shower has built in 4800mAh rechargeable battery so that you can have that pressure like a normal shower. The only downside I see to this long term is the having to pre-heat the water I want to use and then running out potentially before I am finished showering. The reviews on it are really good though, and I am thinking if I don't really like it I can still keep it to wash other things. I know that its unrealistic to think I will be so comfortable all the time, that isn't really my personal goal with my build but I do want to build something that I can take off grip for small amounts of time so that I can explore more remote parts of my country. Time to keep researching, Let me know your thoughts on this shower. *** Disclaimer*** This website may include affiliate links. Hi @Britny Boxall , I hope you’re doing well. I came across your community and genuinely liked the intention behind it. It feels thoughtful and well-rooted. I spend a lot of time helping new community owners improve visibility and engagement in ways that still feel human, It is a privilege for letting me into your community and i would love to helping in building a real and engaging community with the right audience if you are open to it?
