Hello my fellow procrastinators—your time is officially UP! No more extensions. October 15, 2025 is the FINAL day to file your 2024 tax return and avoid those nasty failure-to-file penalties. 👉 And trust me—you want to avoid them. For 2025, the penalty is 5% of the tax due per month (or part of a month), up to 25% total. Translation: file on November 1? The penalty is 5% for October and another 5% for November. Plus interest (currently about 8% annually). Ouch. So what should you do if you’re not ready? - If you know you’ve got a refund: What are you waiting for! The IRS has your money. No penalty, but I am sure it is better off in your hands than theirs. And if you wait too long (3 years), they’ll keep it. - If you’re unsure: Gather what you’ve got, make reasonable estimates, don’t fudge your income, and FILE. Once you get your act together you can file an amended return. Next year, promise yourself you won’t wait until the last minute—you’ve got 9½ months. That’s enough time to grow a tiny human, so surely enough time to file your taxes. 👶📄 Got last-minute filing questions? Drop them in the comments—I’ll do my best to get you answers before the clock runs out.
