AERIALS INTENSIVE · WEEK 3: The Connection
Yippee, you’re ready for WEEK THREE! 🤩🔥🤸‍♀️ You’ve been working on the JUMP, LAND, then CARTWHEEL. This week we take out the landing in the middle. 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝟯 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝟰-𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝗦𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺: - Step, retiré, lunge, just like before - Jump, and swing the arms straight back; jump directly into the handstand - Cartwheel out, land on one foot, then place the second leg down 👉 Here’s the part worth knowing in this lesson. It’s going to feel like your students might land on their heads. They won’t. It just feels that way. They need to swing their arms all the way back.💪 I'll explain all of this inside the lesson:) If the arms swing out to the side, it’s because they’re trying to get their hands to the floor faster. They still need more time, so take them back to Step 2. That’s normal. You’ll go back and forth here a lot. This week’s module also has a bonus video, Common Problems & How to Fix Them. Don’t skip it! Head to the lesson 👉 https://www.skool.com/acrodanceschool/classroom/fd206d18?md=96033e38c77b41119114a94a9a19d4f3 Then post your homework in the comments below 👇 Good luck teachers and see you inside the lesson!

Week three already! 🔥 Can’t wait to see everyone’s homework videos come in this week 👇
AERIALS INTENSIVE · WEEK 2: Jump, Land, THEN Cartwheel
Woo Hoo, you’re ready for WEEK TWO! 🩵 Last week you learned the takeoff. This week we add the Cartwheel. Step 2 of the Aerial 4-Step System: - Jump, just like Step 1 - Land back on the front foot, and - Circle the arms back and around, then cartwheel out Here’s the part worth knowing before you watch the lesson. Most of your students will spend most of their time right here on Step 2. It’s the step you’ll keep coming back to, so it’s worth getting right. And the landing matters more than you’d think. Land square on one foot, then present the upper body. Never square the hips off to the audience. There’s a bonus video on the landing technique in this week’s module too. Don’t skip it! Head to the lesson here 👉 https://www.skool.com/acrodanceschool/classroom/fd206d18?md=df314c28eefc45ec884da4ed22b8ea80

@Melissa Wood I love that you have that trusting relationship with your students
They all looked like birds.
"I taught you aerials last year. I want you to forget everything I taught you.” That’s what Melissa Wood is telling her students right now while she’s doing the Aerials Intensive. 🔥 Melissa is in Acro Dance School with us, and she’s also a member of our other Skool group, The Acro Circle, our syllabus and certification group. She told this story on the coaching call this morning, because she’s working through the 30-Day Aerials Intensive with her students right now as well. Melissa coached cheer for ten years. Her own training was gymnastics, and back then cheer + gymn was mostly “just throw it.” There wasn’t much technique behind it. So she taught aerials the only way she knew: a run, a prep, and go. Then she started the Intensive and looked at her students on her studio floor. She didn’t like what she saw. So she started over at Step One, and her students hated it. They kept travelling sideways. “They all looked like birds,” she said. “No, we’re not going across. We’re going up.” 🦅 The 14 to 18 year olds got it fast. The 9 to 13 year olds pushed back hard. They wanted to go back to the old way. She didn’t let them. “We’re going to stay at step one, and we’re going to get this, and you’re going to get it.” 🤩 I know why that matters. At 12, I was taught the run and “wing it and fling it” method for my aerial. By 15, I had grown, the aerial was long gone, and I never got it back. When students push back on Step One, that’s usually a sign it’s working. 😅 Is anyone else getting pushback on Step One yet? Tell me how it’s going so far in the comments. Miss Melissa

Welcome to the 30-Day Aerials Intensive
Welcome to the 30-Day Aerials Intensive! 💥 I’m so glad you’re here. Over the next 30 days, we’re working through the Aerial 4-Step System together, one step a week. You’ll learn the step, teach it in your own class, and come back to tell us how it went. Start with the Welcome lesson. It explains exactly how this works 👉 https://www.skool.com/acrodanceschool/classroom/fd206d18?md=a114e6e8ecf44f92b59c85a4b0d57426 Then come back and post below. And after you post, leave a comment on the person above you. 👆 POST THIS IN THE COMMENTS I’M IN ✅ Where I’m starting from: The class I’ll be using for this Intensive: The ages of my students in this class: The biggest challenge or frustration I’m having with aerials right now: What I’m most excited to get out of this 30-Day Intensive: Where you’re starting from can be: brand new (never attempted aerials), fixing aerials, taking it from a run to a step, trying a new method, or something else. I’ve gone first below. Don't forget to comment on the teacher above you to show your support of your fellow colleagues:) Looking forward to reading your kick off post! 💜 Miss Melissa
