Multigenerational summer experience
Hi everyone. I’m sharing my self project with the community here. This year, as a New Year’s resolution, I resolved to start doing pitch meetings with at least family and friends about a dream idea. In short, I want to create a summer living experience for my kids, nieces, nephews and the children of friends and acquaintances. It’s easy to think of it as an away summer camp and that wouldn’t be wrong but it wouldn’t be completely accurate. I envision something with foundations of deepening guided education, spirit, connection to family and cohort, and more. I envision this being placed on the campus of Piney Woods School bc I would also want to elevate other Black institutions with this. Thoughts? Let’s discuss.

Liberated Genius Conversations: 3 Questions with Rebeccah Bennett
For our fourth interview, called Liberated Genius Conversations, Dr. April talks with Rebecca Bennett on how community is medicine. Learn how we heal and grow stronger together—because when we heal in community, we free OUR genius. Please comment what resonated with you. 3 Questions: 1. When did you fall in love with community healing and how did you know it was for you? 2. What are three 3 benefits of community healing? 3. When were you first introduced to community healing as a practice? About Rebeccah Bennett: InPower Institute’s Founder and Root Teacher. I’m a serial community builder, cultural visionary, and community healer. My mission is to seed healed futures by helping people manifest the best within themselves and create communities that sustain the best in us all. For more than 25 years, I’ve had the privilege of inspiring, coaching, training, and walking alongside tens of thousands of people and hundreds of organizations working to elevate both human consciousness and human conditions. In 2010, I founded InPower Institute as a center for personal growth and community healing. Through InPower, I later launched two communities of practice that remain close to my heart: the Black Healers Collective, which advances the healing and wholeness of African diaspora peoples; and Spirit Rising, a spiritual community for soul-deep liberation and growth. She talked about acupuncture as a healing system versus a diseased system. Fun fact that she shared: The Black Panthers used acupuncture as a community healing system and helped to bring it into the mainstream United States of America.
