I am developing 20 acres of Texas scrubland into a Ranch for raising animals. Currently have dogs and cats. Will be adding chickens, rabbits and goats. My community is about goats.

Hi Im a backyard homesteader on 2 acres with a bunch of chickens and a garden. Chickens are going great but my gardening yield has always been lackluster. I have pretty clayish soil and Im trying to incorporate compost and layering to help create good topsoil. Any tips would be appreciated if anyone has successfully dealt with hard clay like soil before. My dream life is on 20+ acres with tons of pastureland for grass fed cattle, chickens, all manor or fruit trees and berry bushes, and anywhere but in Ohio. :)
