Fight Night & Cigar Action
I had the pleasure of hanging out with our great friend DaVon, watching the fight and smoking cigars. Nights like this are what it’s all about—good company, good vibes, and a historic fight.
Fight Night & Cigar Action
Enjoying the weekend!
So, it's the weekend! What are you enjoying? The first is a Smoking Monk of Esteli. It's advertised as a Maduro and supposed to be paired with a porter or stout. It's a lighter shade of Maduro than I'm used to, but it is tasty. Nice notes if coffee, leather and some earthiness. I paired it with a Sam Adams Octoberfest beer and a nice rye whisky.

Been sipping on Peerless Double Oak lately, and man, that’s an awesome pour. Rich and bold with layers that keep opening up. I’ve also been lighting up The Banker by H. Upmann, and it’s been a great smoke to go with the whiskey. That Double Oak and The Banker together hit the spot.
Cut Styles Explained: Quick Guide
Choosing the right cut changes how your cigar smokes. Here’s a quick breakdown: 1. Straight Cut ✂️ - The classic and most popular. - Gives the widest, easiest draw. - Best for: almost all cigars, especially large ring gauges. 2. V-Cut 🔻 - Creates a wedge-shaped channel in the cap. - Produces a concentrated, flavorful draw. - Best for: thicker cigars or when you want more intensity. 3. Punch Cut 🥊 - Cuts a small hole in the cap. - Provides a tighter draw, less loose tobacco. - Best for: smaller ring gauges and cigars with delicate wrappers. 💡 Pro Tip: Try all three — you’ll find that certain blends taste better with specific cuts. 👉 Which cut do you use most often?

Good breakdown, DaVon. I’ve always been a straight cut guy myself, but I’ve been reaching for the punch more often too. It really does change up the experience — cleaner draw and keeps the cap looking sharp. Appreciate McGlory for putting you on, might have to thank him myself!
I’ll Kick This Off — My Intro
Welcome to The Stogie Clubhouse! I’ll kick this off with a quick intro. I first got into cigars when a good friend surprised me with an assorted pack for my birthday. At first, I wasn’t sure what to expect — but one night on my apartment patio I gave it a try. I ended up smoking one every night until that pack was gone… and I haven’t stopped since. Now my humidor is always stocked, my whiskey glass is never far away 🥃, and I’m here to share the cigar lifestyle with all of you. 👉 Your turn: Drop your intro below. Where are you from, and what’s your go-to smoke?

My name’s Brandon AKA Big Gilk born and raised in Wichita, Kansas. I’ve been enjoying cigars for a good while now — what started as a way to slow down and relax has turned into one of my favorite pastimes. My go-to smoke usually rotates, but you can’t go wrong with an Oliva Serie V or a Rocky Patel Vintage when the mood’s right. Pair that with a good bourbon and I’m set. Looking forward to hearing everyone else’s favorites and swapping recommendations!
