Organization and back office boring stuff
Dear Abby, First - Hi! Happy to be here, long time watcher, first time caller. How are we organizing jewelry and preparing for shows? I’ve only been at this for a little over a month and have acquired so much jewelry I’m struggling with the organization and picking out what to share in my shows. I watched the videos and learned loud and clear not to dig through the abyss for requests not in arms reach, but it would be awesome to have it so organized that I could easily go “hey you want Avon, let me grab my Avon box and we’ll take a peek to see if we can find a winner. I bought 12 basic flat jewelry trays recently and found that to be effective for pulling in my last show. I’ll probably keep doing that….but let’s talk about the show being over. Are we putting them in a bin and dating them for another show? Are we leaving what didn’t sell on the tray and running it again next show? Are we bagging and categorizing? Signed, Drowning in Jewelry

Love this post and your willingness not to 'stop the show' to dig through the abyss for one request 🤣 it does make for a quality improvement for the viewer! For me, it's always flats. I fill them and empty them. Zero long term storage because I sell every piece of jewelry on a chronological rotation. For stuff that's not consignment, it's really three staging areas. Precious metal, costume/designer, and high end ($100+ per piece, regardless of being Fine jewelery or Costums) no sorting by color or designer. I still don't hold anything long enough to warrant multiple categories. Sparkle in, sparkle out. If I had a retail storefront, of course this answer would be vastly different. If I have jewelry that may not catch a bid by the piece of $7 or more, I'll sell entire flat of 20+ pieces in one lot. Hopefully someone else will weigh in who does more Buy It Now or showcase type sales
Best “first show” advice for a newb?
Hi, I’m Mel! Thanks for letting me hang around. :) I’ve been selling vintage and antique clothing for 20+ years- 4 years on WN, mostly in Y2K- but just now dipping my toe into jewelry. I scheduled some shows, but I’m feeling a bit nervous - like I’ve been cramming for a giant test for the past month. (It’s weird having to basically start over with something that involves a lot of technical expertise, which I obviously don’t have.) I bought some start-up tools- presidium pen, acid kit, etc.- but things might be a bit messy for a while as I find my footing. Any amazing advice for someone doing their first show in the category under these circumstances? I’d love to not faceplant (although if I do it wouldn’t be the first time). 😂🙏

@Tina Hartman good advice. When I go offcam and point my camera down to the jewels I don't notice a dip in viewership and I actually find it easier to be an entertainer and sales person when I'm NOT on cam.

@Melanie Gillis yes you could get away with forward facing jewelry sales, many do. I did it once in a show the other day and all feedback in the room was no thank you, go back to the mirror.
Back to school Skool bus raid train?
Hi all, wondering if there’s interest in putting together another raid train? Figured we are kicking off a new school year so why not? I’m not exactly sure how to set it up but I am willing to learn/help!
