How do you buy your fabric?
Something interesting came up in this chat and I thought it was worth asking the group. Do you buy fabric as you need it and for a specific project? Or do you buy it when you see something you like and decide on a project later?

@Debra Verrall I used to do all of them. quillows are the were wons that were so much fun as there were so many beautuful pieces and quilt patches. My dad and mom and sister in law made over 200 of them. I miss that so much now.

Can we talk about the lives for a second? 🙋‍♀️
Because this is the bit I'm most excited about. You've seen the six-stage journey. You know the modules. But Modules 5 and 6 are a little different and I think once you understand how they work, you're going to get excited too. Every single month, we work through a theme together as a community. And Modules 5 and 6 (Plan Your Construction and Finished & Proud) aren't pre-recorded lessons. They're live walkthroughs, tailored specifically to that month's garment. This means: ◎ Module 5 - Plan Your Construction - is where we sit down together and map out the entire project. Seam by seam. In the right order. With a heads up on any tricky bits before you hit them. No more reaching a step and going "wait… what do I do here?" ★ Module 6 - Finished & Proud - is where we bring it home. We go through the pressing, finishing and the details that take a garment from "almost done" to actually done. Together. Why live? Because construction and finishing aren't one-size-fits-all. Every garment has its quirks. Every month is different. And you deserve a walkthrough that's actually relevant to what you're making right now - not a generic tutorial from three years ago. This is the stuff that changes how you sew. Not just this garment. Every garment after it. The first monthly theme is coming up in June and I'll be adding the live dates to the calendar in the next few days so keep your eyes on that. In the meantime, what's your biggest "I always get stuck here" moment when you're finishing a garment? Drop it below 👇 I'll make sure I cover it. 👀

Hello, I'm so glad you're here! I started this group to support thoughtful, focused learning - the kind that happens when people can ask real questions, share work-in-progress, and think things through without noise or pressure. To get the most from the group I'd love you to contribute. Have you noticed the little number under your profile picture? That's your level rank and it goes up the more your comment and interact. You can do this by asking questions, sharing what you’re working on, or offering considered feedback to others. To protect the learning environment, this is not a space for self-promotion or spam, and I ask that all suggestions and feedback are shared constructively and with care. Sewing is a skill built over time, and mistakes, questions, and uncertainty are all part of the process. These guidelines exist so everyone can feel comfortable slowing down, learning properly, and sewing well together. 👗 Keep posts on topic 🩱 Contribute so you can level up 🩳 No self-promotion or spam 🧥 Make suggestions constructive Let's kick this off with an introduction - pop a comment below and let us know what you're working on
