Summer!
Good morning! (Or whatever time of day it is for you) For the Northern Hemisphere (as I realize we are from everywhere on this globe), summer is on its way. Litha approaches (Midsummer, actually -- goodness!), and I can tell you that in the Seattle area today it's going to be HOT. 🥵 Summer is a love/hate relationship for me. While I do enjoy sunshine, swimming, and taking some time off, I'm also very sensitive to heat. Luckily, my home is situated in an area that is shady most of the day and stays fairly cool. What's your relationship to summer? Love it? Hate it? Coping? 😅 Do your practices change in the summer? I lit a candle just yesterday when it was 85F (30C) outside and thought, "This is ironic." 😂 I'm curious about your summer (Midsummer?) rituals. And do they involve popsicles?

It was cool and rainy here too, which I enjoyed, but my garden suffered too. If only there were a way to have both! I hadn't thought about making a fire, but that's a good idea. I will definitely be out talking to the birds that have now realized I'm providing a full cafe and spa experience for them outside. 😄
Mid-week Pause
🌜Here on the West Coast of the United States, it's already 9 pm, which makes it very late for basically everyone else in the world. Still, I'm wondering, during what is left of Wednesday -- Did you pause yet this week? If not, take a moment to breathe and consider how your week's going. If you set an intention or goal on Monday, how's that going? What do you need to do for the rest of the week to make that goal happen? 🏁 If you're like me and haven't done so yet, it's not too late! What can you focus on for what remains this week that is meaningful and serves you? For me, my week has already been a mixed bag. At work, there's been tension around a couple of things that are bad habits for me and others. At the same time, I received exciting news about being approved for a metaphysical market in July, a huge goal I've been working towards for months. Moving into the latter part of this week, I aim to focus that positive energy into the tension in order to do my best with where I am this week. If you feel comfortable sharing, what's your midweek reflection? How will you pause to make the best of whatever is coming your way? 🪴

Mid-week Pause
🌿 Discussion Question: What role does symbolism play in your practice?
I've been thinking a lot lately about why symbols matter. Across cultures and traditions, people have long attached meaning to colors, candles, herbs, stones, seasons, animals, and countless other symbols. Some view these symbols as spiritual tools. Others see them as reminders, anchors for reflection, or ways of expressing intention. Many people probably experience them as some combination of all of the above. For me, symbolism often serves as a way to focus attention and invite deeper reflection. A candle can become a reminder of hope. Salt can symbolize protection or preservation. A seasonal celebration can help mark the passage of time and reconnect us to the natural world. Regardless of how we understand the symbols we use, they seem to have a remarkable ability to help us engage more intentionally with our lives. I'm curious: ✨ What symbols appear most often in your practice?✨ Why are they meaningful to you?✨ Has your understanding of symbolism changed over time? I'd love to hear your thoughts.

One example I was thinking about today is salt. Salt has an historical and scientific use in preserving foods, like meat. Through this usage, it's no wonder it's become regarded as a protective element. So when I sprinkle salt over my threshold, it is, at minimum, a touchpoint of, "I'm protecting my home with this preservation material."
Beginning-of-the-Week Reflection - 5/18/26
🌿 Beginning-of-the-Week Reflection A new week often brings noise, responsibilities, and constant movement. Before everything fills up again, I’d love to ask: What kind of energy are you hoping to protect this week? Peace? Creativity? Rest? Focus? Curiosity? Softness? Something else entirely? No need for a perfect answer — sometimes simply naming it is enough. 🌙

For me, I’m hoping to preserve my resilience and endurance energy. I’m a high school teacher in May. It’s rough as the kids start getting antsy, start checking out, evaluators are rushing to meet final deadlines they should’ve done in April when energy was better all around. I hope to make time — even two minutes — each morning to breathe and set the tone for a successful day.

🌿 Beginning-of-the-Week Reflection As we move into a new week, I’d love to ask: What’s one thing helping you feel grounded right now? It could be: - a small ritual - music - a creative project - time outdoors - tea or coffee in the morning - rest - journaling - candlelight - conversation - anything that’s helping you reconnect with yourself a little. No pressure for long answers here — even a simple thought is welcome. 🌙

@Kim Marivoet Yes! This is how I wish I could wake up every morning! It leads to better motivation too, and a better day. My dream is to live by my own circadian rhythms. I just live better that way!

@Kim Marivoet You know, great question! I was going to say, “Rigid work start time,” but also I could probably go to bed earlier. 😅
