It wasn't so much a moment but a voice of my higher self that i couldn't deny... In 2022 I was working as a graphic designer in film and television in LA and running my own freelance business. I was feeling burned out and disconnected from my art. I remember thinking...if I keep doing this, I am going to die behind a computer. (not to be too morbid, but it was not good for me) I began thinking about other career paths that I could take...a painter, a sculptor...and then I thought, what about a tattoo artist? I already was a tattoo collector myself and I always though tattoo artists were SO COOL (not to mention someone I paid a lot of money). So I called a friend over that I knew had a machine and i gave her a tattoo...I WAS HOOKED. From there, I bought all the equipment and i practiced and practiced and practiced...fast forward to three years later, I am in a shop and I am more balanced than ever. Graphic design is a side gig for me now, tattooing is my main income. I feel connected to my art and more importantly, the lives i am able to touch and change for the better with it. I love being connected to someone's story and helping bring it to life. I think thats what I was missing from being in design and marketing for so many years. Last year was one that was incredibly hard. It was my first year in a shop, learning to manage clients, my books, and my technique. But coming out of it this year I know is to be the light after the storm. I love connecting with people. I love learning their stories, their fears, their deepest parts...and making a space to feel seen, heard and celebrated.
