Application of Palmar Cooling in cold environments?
Hello all! @Braeden Ostepchuk You're a hockey guy so I thought of this today as I finally got my Kuhler device and the notification for beer league hockey starting today: Will this device work on the bench in a cold ice rink? Does the ambient temperature in the mid to upper 30s and cold hands shut the palms down for the benefits? Ideally, I'd love to hold on to this thing between shifts. Would love to hear your thoughts!

Hi Braeden! I'm a 40 year old father of 3 boys (10 yo twins and a 3 yo.) I'm a career firefighter with a Bachelor's in Meteorology (worked on TV for 5 years.) Like you, I've been in hockey my whole life. Unlike you, not at the pro level. Still trying to live the dream via beer league! I consider myself what is referred to in the first responder world as a "tactical athlete ". Several years ago I made a promise to myself to do whatever it is I can to optimize my flexibility, range of motion, and strength, while also maximizing whatever I can do to prevent injury in my job. One of the benefits of my job is early retirement- I want to be able to fully enjoy it! In the consummate example of someone who constantly makes themself an experiment (ie Tim Ferriss). I try a lot, measure, and when it works I put it into my routine/diet/workout regimen etc. If it doesn't work for me, at least I know! Two years ago at the biggest firefighter conference in the country, I discovered palmar cooling. I immediately dove deep into the research. Where I learned it from had a product that was expensive and clunky. Sure it works, but not how I would like to use it. I'm looking for in-workout gains, but where I've had the greatest success is with recovery post-firefighting training. Being encapsulated raises your core temp so much more than any traditional workout, and it takes a toll. I experimented with a cheaper alternative and it WORKS! Then you entered the space and provided the PERFECT answer to my needs. I cannot wait for mine to arrive and test and spread the word!
