Art Museums and Contemporary artists
Hey there! In two weeks I will be on my way to London to visit some art Museums. So I was wondering in general: which inspiring art museums or galeries did you visit and are there any contemporary artists that inspire you (known and unknown)? Have a creative day!

Interesting. Here in Dresden we have a few works of Gerhard Richter and I don‘t really connect with him. The same museum (Albertinum) always has really great special exhibitions that show the artists work within their biography- and their process. I love to see that! Right now there is an exhibition about Paula Modersohn-Becker and Edvard Munch. I still have to go there. Magritte is interesting. I just know a few works and will take a closer look! I usually like certain things about artists - the colors of Hans Brass or the light and shadows of Carvaggio. My favourite Instagram discoveries are Jose Luis Ceña Ruiz, Daniel Freaker, Amy Dury and Tina Dobrajc.
Hallo!
I'm Melissa, from regional NSW, Australia and I am very much a work in progress. I used to make art. Then life happened — years of it — and I just... stopped. I'm a homeschooling mum, a foster carer for cats and kittens and so much more... Somewhere in all of that, the creative part of me quietly packed her bags and left. Then my daughter started creating the most incredible dark fantasy artwork — seriously, this girl is something else — and watching her has made me realise how much I miss making things. So here I am. A little lost, a little rusty, and genuinely unsure who I am as an artist anymore. But curious enough to find out. About that hallo... I noticed our host is Dutch, which genuinely made me smile — my dad, my auntie, and my opa and oma are all Dutch. So I figure that's a sign I'm exactly where I'm supposed to be. 🌷 Really looking forward to being part of this community and figuring out who I am creatively — one messy, imperfect piece at a time. Which, come to think of it, feels very responsibly messy of me. 😊

Welcome! 😊 Enjoy the ride - which will probably be messy, full of challenges, frustration and learning. 😅
What’s your toxic art trait? 😝
Your ride-or-die art material? The material you keep buying… and can’t stop using. And one or more tip we all need to steal from you

@Joleen Jenkin I am the same with the online courses! So much knowledge waiting for me! 😂
Self portrait
Hello everyone! I hope you're all finding a way to be creative today! I started this last night (and stayed up way too late working on it) and it's the first self portrait that I've ever made. It's not finished but I am very happy with it so far. If anyone has made one of themselves, whether realism or abstract, please post below. I would love to see them. If you've never made one, give it a try! Who knows you better than you?

@Gina DeMarco very expressive! Now I have „painting a self portrait“ on my list for 2026. 😊
Challenge! Show Up & Create
Most artists don’t fail because of talent. They disappear. So let’s fix that. New challenge: Show Up & Create → 3x per week→ for 30 days→ post whatever you made (finished or messy) Rules: - No perfection - No overthinking - Just proof you showed up - Miss a day? Don’t quit. Just continue. This is about becoming someone who creates. Not someone who waits. I’m in too. Who’s joining?

@Valérie Van Kraaij I was also working with oil pastels today and yesterday. I found out that they can be blended really well with Q-tips. 😅

Sooo, I barely managed my two days of drawing during the week but once I started I couldn‘t stop (appreciating weekends without any plans!). I made a 1,20 m astronaut for our space project in kindergarden. 👩🏼‍🚀 I didn‘t work on my own projects but I had a lot of fun. 😊 It‘s done in oil pastels.
