5 contributions to The Shawn Lane Guitar Method
I want to welcome Kevin Williams and Kang!!!
Kevin was also a student of Shawns for a long time and very close friends. He and Dave Flexer hung out with Shawn a lot and Kevin has also been a guitar teacher for over 20 years in Birmingham Alabama. He is an incredible guitar player and will probably be helping us as a teacher as we build this incredible community! Kevin also has many great Shawn stories and worked at Strings N Things with David Flexer for many many years. And I dont know Kang, but welcome aboard and if you have any questions feel free to ask!

Welcome Kevin. I too worked at Strings & Things in the early 80’s. I met David Flexer through Shawn Lane and we remain friends to this day. Enjoy the group. Interesting stuff.

@Jimmy Hudson I knew Flex & Sean O’ but I don’t know Billy or Kevin that well. There were so many people in Shawn’s orbit I don’t remember everyone. I had a small stroke in 2008 that wreaked havoc on my memory so I apologize if I don’t remember.
Happy Birthday Sid!
Today is Sids Birthday yall! @Sid Woolfolk Ok so Joes New Pizzaria has decided not to open on Sundays anymore so we had to get a new venue for our Monthly Atlanta Guitar Masterclasses. He did find a place and we are picking it up in June. I will be way more active in here after this week yall. I have had two close friends pass away in the last couple weeks in Memphis, one of them was the bassist for Saliva and a friend of Shawns Matt Dees and he passed away yesterday. From Sid and Yes we are about to get him ready to go live as well! Im going to try and hop on tonight or tomorrow night. I'm excited to announce we have a new location for our TYGP Workshop. The next one is scheduled for Sunday, June 7th at Rehearse Live LLC located right off of "Spaghetti Junction". The workshop will be followed by an open jam, and everyone is welcome to play. More details coming soon! Dont forget yall, we have founders pricing back and these courses and premium membership content is absolutely worth it if your on the fence about signing up. Well its less than a dollar a day and there is unreleased Shawn Material in there as well so $29 per month or $300 per year and that will be locked in as long as you stay a member! Also earn money with us or at the very least get your membership paid for by using our affiliate program. Anyone you refer with your code you get 40% of whatever they are signed up for every single month! Skool does this automatically with their program or if you know anyone that might want to start a skool community there are affiliate links for that as well. I pay $100 per month for this community, well we pay as a collective so imagine if you knew people to start their own communities such as maybe @Chris Alexander wanted to start a learn to work on cars community, well if you referred him and he paid the $100 per month every month you would get $40 of that! Help us grow this thing yall, the more members we get the more resources we have where we can dedicate much more time to this and start some of these other projects!

Shawn and I laughed hysterically the first time we heard this…the second time we listened a little more closely to the guitar work https://youtu.be/fJwis5FA3mA?si=kMM1sOrnvVKky7HG

Happy Birthday Shawn and Guys we have a Treasure in our Group Now
I want yall to welcome @Bill Oliver Bill knew Shawn when he was a kid and Bill was a Rhodes Scholar and he and his frat brothers knew Shawn was a young genius. Bill is the one that introduced Shawn to Holdsworths Music and in fact is the one that took Shawn to see him play and Bill said after that very night Shawn chaged everything about his playing within a few weeks. Bill was Shawns closest friend over the years and we have been friends for about 30 years and it is an honor to have him be a part of this community and he knows a lot about Shawn so the Q&A section, feel free to tag him! Welcome Brother! We have another huge surprise coming into the group as well hopefully later today!

I neglected to mention that All That I Want that Robin Trower recorded was written by Tom Ward, Sam Bryant, and Suzanne Jerome Taylor. Sam was a founding member of The Willys. Tom and Suz were from a band called The Breaks. Tom took Sam’s place in The Willys and I believe he co-authored The Hurt The Joy from Shawn’s Tri Tone Fascination CD.

@Jimmy Hudson Suz is Paul’s step-mother. She was married to Pat Taylor, Paul’s Father, a fine player in his own right. Paul played several gigs with Shawn with Luther & Cody Dickinson from The North Mississippi All Stars and with Shawn and Jeff Sipe. A lot of this is documented on videos on YouTube.
