@Amanda Mirrlees they decimated my sweet potato vines last year. I've actually thought about planting them along the back property line to run around the evergreens for the deer to snack on. It would be interesting to see if that worked to keep them out of our gardens. My neighbor has a large garden also and I know she has issues with the deer in our area as well. We're still semi rural, but more houses have come in over the years, so I know the local critters are suffering from the influx.

@Amanda Mirrlees Between my neighbor and I, I've found that the best deterrent has been the sprinkler. I had a border of marigolds around my raised beds last year, and the deer just stepped on them.

I made mine too tall. They didn't fit on the shelf very well, then I kept them too wet. The seeds rotted.

Definitely interested in the compost bay!
