✂️ QUILTING TOOL TRIVIA: The Rotary Cutter!
Can you imagine quilting without a rotary cutter? 😳 The world’s first rotary cutter was invented in 1979 by Yoshio Okada, founder of OLFA Corporation in Japan. His simple-but-brilliant idea was to replace the traditional cutting motion of scissors with a rolling circular blade—making it much faster and easier to cut fabric accurately. Paired with an acrylic ruler and self-healing cutting mat, the rotary cutter completely changed the way quilters cut fabric—and today, it’s hard to imagine a quilting room without one! Fun fact: Okada was also the inventor of the world’s first snap-off blade cutter. Apparently, the man really had a thing for making our lives easier one sharp blade at a time. 😂

I am Bernadette Gonzales. Born and raised in Santa Fe. I have an amazing husband. We have two sons, wonderful daughter in laws and five grandchildren. Married almost 44 years (8/21/82) I think I've been quilting 30 years. I need to live to be 300 to use all the fabric i have acquired. I love quilting! I have done scrapbooks, crochet, hand embroidery, rubber stamping, you name it. I also love to trout fish!!! I too, need to purge the quilt room! Perhaps when my broken wrist is healed!!!!
