Update
Today is day 12… still nothing to report. Around day 10, some temptation creeped in, but I resisted and stayed on the course. Been very busy at work the past week or so, so that’s why I haven’t been as active on here and probably has helped with me not falling into temptation. The real test will come when boredom sets in. Keeping the goal of Wsop in mind as of now. I hope everyone has been doing well and has stayed disciplined.

I ended up falling back into a sports bet habit, nothing crazy though, but had to remind myself this is where my leak is, ended up cashing out for a $10 loss and deleting the app, have been disciplined since! Hopefully can keep the train going!
Hi everyone…
I’m here because I see myself in a lot of what’s being said. Every day I wake up knowing exactly what I need to do—I’m motivated, focused, I feel good. Then the session starts, a few minutes in and I lose awareness. I start drifting, making stupid mistakes, burning stacks. Then I re-enter 1, 2, 3 tournaments… then comes the 4th, the 5th, the 6th—and my bankroll goes up in smoke… every time… every damn time. And the worst part is, I know it. I know it’s going to end like this, because this is how I am!!! I need to break this cycle…

Take it a day at a time, maybe only bring 3 bullets and no debit card to initially start, until you can hone your discipline down. That worked for me when I would blast off my bankroll at cash games
Breaking the Cycle private game
Hey guys! I’ve had a few people DM me asking which pokerbros/clubgg games i play. To be honest, I don’t trust most of them + they rake way too much. The big unions take an absurd amount. So I’ve decided to gauge interest for a friendly low stakes private game for members of breaking the cycle. If you’re interested, just comment below and let me know what game you’d prefer. I’m thinking a .25/50 hold em and a .25/50 plo? I think clubgg has better software than pokerbros. I figure this is a great way for members to interact and have some fun. Maybe we can do a “road to wsop” promo giveaway or something cool like that. LMK what you think guys! -Poker Joe

I think a freeroll tourney with rebuys or something could be fun also. Maybe a .10/20 and .25/.50 also
Starting a Vlog to stay disciplined while building back my bankroll.
To help stay disciplined and accountable. I decided to recently start vlogging, with the goal of releasing one episode every 6-10 days and playing only once a week during peak hours on either Friday or Saturdays. Spending more time editing and reviewing hands on a daily basis, and less time at the tables I think will help keep me to stay busy instead of falling into old habits. I’m up in poker for the year, but blew my bankroll on sports betting and chasing losses on sports that I don’t even watch, like tennis! I didn’t touch my bankroll for the entire 2026 year until mid March and was able to play consistently at 1/3 buying in for the max ($500). This has been a recurring theme, and I vowed 2026 would be different and started off so strong with BRM. I just banned myself from all of the apps for whatever their cool off period is (some 4 weeks, and some 1 year). I’m hoping substituting with vlogging will help me stay accountable, plug my leaks and keep me away from habits that are drowning me. I edited my first vlog and can already see improvement in my thought process. Even though I was running bad AND playing bad. My first day filming at the tables was kind of nerve wracking and wasn’t sure if it was the right decision. I’m starting to feel a bit more comfortable now and am hoping to keep progressing. Let’s continue to progress in Breaking the Cycle 🤞

Spinning my wheels
Did something uncomfortable today… got on a podcast. Not gonna lie, I was nervous as hell before it started. Felt out of my element a bit. But I did it anyway. That’s kinda the whole point of this right now… just stacking small wins and putting myself out there even when it feels weird. At the same time, I’m gonna be real… I feel like I’m spinning my wheels a little. Doing a lot of posting, building this group, talking to people and making connections… but I don’t feel closer to my goals yet. And that part messes with me. Because at the end of the day, I just want freedom. I want money coming in so I can travel and play and not feel stuck grinding shifts. So yeah… mixed emotions today. Productive… but also impatient.

Patience is progress, as poker players/gamblers/etc. we want that big quick score - but that’s not sustainable. We need to continue building our discipline day by day, brick by brick. You’re going to get to the freedom and ability to travel to play poker, but you can’t reach that destination without going through the proper steps to get to those goals. I have faith in you, and I’m going to hold you accountable!! The end of 2026 will look so much better than the beginning if we just stick to what we KNOW we have to do to get there. I’m rooting for you and everyone in this group who wants to take things seriously or even though who just don’t want to fall back into destructive habits 🤞
