I’m reminded of something I read years ago about the session guitarist, Tommy Tedesco…a feature on pretty much every movie soundtrack, tv theme or commercial jingle in the 60s or 70s Tommy Tedesco outlined 4 reasons to take a gig… said a gig should have as least ONE of these things - Fun Learning Money Connections for the future. None of those? DON’T GO! Two or more, even better! That way you’re not spreading yourself too thin taking anything, and working enough to pay the bills. I’ve diluted it down to the three C’s CASH CONTENT CONTACT

Had to practice that recently! Unexpected expenditure meant I was very low on spending money this month, and I naturally got a bit down But then I recalled this and thought “well, I’ve a roof over my head, work is just down the road so I don’t need to run a car, friends next door etc” The instant I flipped that script, you’d be amazed what happened… - strategy meeting at work left so many leftovers from the lunch I had more than enough food to last me until I was more solvent - a close friend literally asked me, without my mentioning it, if I needed anything and to just ask - I found my old sales notes & armed with my knowledge that I could and can sell very well, started to sell ME! again…opportunities seem to be dropping into my lap! TL;DR…this works!

Arnold Schwarzenegger said the same in his autobiography - “I like to always wander in like a puppy. I walk into a problem and then figure out what the problem really is. Don’t tell me ahead of time. Often it’s easier to make a decision when you don’t know as much, because then you can’t overthink. If you know too much, it can freeze you. The whole deal looks like a minefield. I’d noticed the same thing at school. Our economics professor was a two-times PhD, but he pulled up in a Volkswagen Beetle. I’d had better cars for years by that time. I said to myself, “Knowing it all is not really the answer, because this guy is not making the money to have a bigger car. He should be driving a Mercedes.” You can overthink anything. There are always negatives. The more you know, the less you tend to do something. If I had known everything about real estate, movies, and bodybuilding, I wouldn’t have gone into them..I might not have done it if I’d known everything I’d have to go through.”
