Growing up in the Orlando area, my family would visit Disney World almost weekly. Here are some things I miss. Discovery Island. A small oasis that had birds, turtles, and a few other critters. There was a beautiful nature trail that took you through the entire island. It was situated between Fort Wilderness and the Contemporary Resort on Bay Lake. The Fiesta Fun center. It was a massive arcade located on the first floor of the Contemporary. It had any arcade game you could imagine. Pinball, ski-ball, an interactive shooting gallery. Most of the newer games were first introduced here. There was also a very small movie theater that played vintage Disney movies. The Whatnot. This was a peculiar looking jungle gym located in the center of the Disney village, what is now Disney Springs. Different angles, shapes and configurations made this play area fun to see. Honorable mentions: House of Magic on Main Street. Novelty magic tricks, demonstrations and amazing decor. The Headless Horseman Halloween hay ride at Fort Wilderness. This. Was. Awesome. It's a shame it only ran a few years. Starting at Pioneer Hall, your hay ride winds around parts of the trading post area. There was a nature trail that went behind there. Your hayride host would tell the story of the Headless Horseman. The climax was the Horseman chasing you back to the main area. What are some things you remember and miss at Walt Disney World?
