A belated introduction. I “joined” the community over a year ago after hearing about it from a peer. At the time I suppose I felt “too far away” from realistically utilizing a resource like this. A year and three months later, I find myself bumping into Mischa’s YouTube videos again and again. A clue, perhaps. Briefly about me: A few years ago there was a lot of death and loss in my life. I lost interest in most things. When interest came back, it was with a passion for computer science like I hadn’t had since I was 20 (LONG time ago). Two years ago (July, 2023) I wrote my first “Hello, World!” in Python. Currently I regularly program in Bash, Lua, Python, and a few others less regularly (JavaScript, Rust, C, etc). I’ve studied OOP, TCP/IP, and I do binary and subnetting on my fingers. I’m in the process of building a breadboard calculator from scratch and moving towards a 4 or 8bit computer (a la Ben Eater). I’ve built a virtual computer logically from the ground up (via the game Turing Complete). I run Neovim without a package manager (I manage my packages and usually write my own rather than download externals). I run a couple different Debian versions and am currently working towards an Arch from scratch install. A book I’m working through in conjunction with that is Billimoria’s “Hands-On System Programming with Linux”. His explanation of virtual memory and pages has been very helpful conceptually. I like learning, I suppose. I certainly know how to learn. I kind of *have to* else I’d forget everything due to adhd. My biggest struggle is in documenting and sharing my work and projects. I utilize most AI/LLMs through API calls I usually summon via Neovim commands (sending/receiving text from buffers). I’ve been pondering your idea, though.

Hello future, from level 1.

I’m in Texas. Currently I live in a tiny, one-room cabin overlooking Possum Kingdom lake! But I’m eyeing Austin, Texas.

Maybe Lua for it’s simplicity, speed, and because it seems like all my configs use it. It’s not the answer I *want* to give, but it’s the most honest one. :P
