It’s been a long day, getting home from toddler sitting and glad to sit down and relax. So much fun today as my grandson mastered the art of catching bubbles and how to direct water to squirt me. But, the summit is almost here and I want to introduce a few more fabulous speakers. Some of the most important parts of play are difficult to see. A child pauses before reacting. A parent recognizes what is happening beneath a behavior. A family feels safe enough to reconnect after a difficult moment. Our next group of Expert speakers will explore how play supports emotional wellbeing, regulation, attachment, and connection. @Brenda Chilstrom presents The Missing Piece of Emotional Regulation on Monday, August 17, from 12:00–1:00 PM CDT. @Celia Kibler explores The Depth of PLAY on Thursday, August 20, from 10:00–11:00 AM CDT. @Jen Staniforth brings us the pre-recorded session Emotional Regulation Through Play. @Kayla Meyer presents the pre-recorded session Good Enough: The Science of Secure Attachment. I appreciate the phrase “good enough.” Families do not need perfect reactions, perfectly regulated children, or perfectly planned connection time. We need practical ways to understand one another and find our way back when family life gets messy. These four sessions invite us to look beneath the activity and explore what play can make possible. Which topic speaks most directly to your family right now?
