WHAT DID YOU DO THIS WEEK TO MAKE YOUR SOLO LIFE BETTER?
As adults, living by ourselves, we can get trapped in doing for others most of the time. After all, who has more free time than someone who lives by themselves? Sometimes we get so busy doing for others that we forget do for ourselves. By that I mean, engaging in an activity that we enjoy whether that’s in the presence of other people or by our ourselves. It can also mean visiting someplace that has special meaning to you and you only. There are many ways that we can do for ourselves. So let’s offer up what we’ve done for ourselves this week.

This is an older post, but my response is fresh. If you checked out my blog at bazmorris.com then you will see that I am about to undergo transition. Just to recap less than a year ago, I downsized from a three bedroom two bath townhome to a one bedroom one bath apartment. I really like the complex here and I love my apartment. However, not being a millionaire, I’ve never owned any property and thus I find myself on a fixed income that doesn’t afford me much wiggle room. So I am researching and committing to purchasing a used cargo van, probably a Dodge Pro, master, and then building out the interior to be a single dwelling. That only that allow me to rain in expenses like rent, utilities, etc., but it’ll also stretch the income. I do have a lot further. Plus, I haven’t seen my children who live in distant states in over five years because travel is expensive and I don’t have the budget to afford that. So I’m going to transition into a tiny van home on wheels within the next year.

I’ve always been a morning person. I get up very early if I sleep in it means I’m sleeping in until 730 or 8 AM. But as I near 70 my sleep patterns or anything but routine. For example, sometimes I have what I called doughnut nights where I’m asleep for four hours. I wake up for two and then go back to sleep for another two. But lately I’ve been going to sleep around 8:00 PM due to a medication change and then I wake up at 2 o’clock fully rested. It’s a bit frustrating because by noon I feel like I need a nap and my restless legs usually don’t allow that. But such as life. Fighting it doesn’t help so I choose to simply be with it.
