Hello Wandering Creatures, I am organizing a group hike for the Giant Stairs. The hike is about 4.5 miles, it’s challenging due to scrambling. Surface ranges from flat to very rocky plus nearly a MILE of scrambling over large boulders. Very steep down and back up from the Shore Trail. Although it’s about 4.5 miles, it takes longer than usual to get through it due to the rock scramble. It could take about 3 hours for first time hiking on this trail. However, the first section is the decent to the Hudson River and at this point you can choose to turn around and go back up to parking lot. If interested in doing the full hike, I highly recommend hiking boots. The hike will be this Wednesday, 9/17/2025 at 11:30 am. Meeting location is in front of State Line Cafe, Alpine, NJ.
