My name is Mike and I have been a pro DJ since 1996. Started 100% in clubs and bars and then now I am mostly doing private events and radio mix shows. Super stoked to learn some new things as well as share my experiences.
3 priorities I’m locked in on 2026. 1. Systems: I’m actively building SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) to make sure everything is not centered around my brain or skill set. 2. Communication: Our clients and Staff deserve to be in the know. I’m working on consistent forms of communication to them. 3. Lead Generation: The company thrives when leads are flowing and turning into profit. What are you locked in on this year? Drop a comment.
Great priorities! My 2026 is also dedicated to the transition from "process" to "system." From the very beginning of the year, I began laying the foundation: I bought equipment and played my first sets to gain experience. Now I'm focused on three areas: 1. Monetization: I'm turning private parties into commercial events. 2. Scope: Goal: In addition to hosting private events, I want to play in a club or bar. 3. Product: I'm planning a music production course for September. Performing your own material provides a completely different level of energy and brand than simply commercially available material.
I just purchased an Insta 360 camera. It did not come with an SD card. How big of storage will I need do you think. For example, I have 3 weddings this weekend. Maybe 12 hours of dance footage?
What a great choice! For this kind of shooting, get a 512GB - 1TB card. ⚡And stock up on batteries; you'll need at least 5-6 for 12 hours of shooting. Good luck with your weddings! 🔥
Hey everybody, I'm Russ and I've been a full time wedding DJ since 2021. I own a multi-op DJ company in Northwest Arkansas and I started my DJ journey when I turned 41. Now, we perform over 200 events per year with an incredibly talented team. I just want to share all I have learned and hope it will you in your journey.
That’s an impressive result, Russ! 👍🔥 200+ events per year is a serious milestone. I’m currently at the self-learning and practice stage myself. I’d love to read your advice on how to turn this hobby into a full-fledged business without burning out. Thank you for creating this group and sharing your experience! 🤝
