Apparently, I 'Owe' Etsy $1K+ 😅
A few days ago Etsy reached back into the archives of my life and said: “Hey girl, remember those shipping labels from FOUR YEARS AGO?” No. No I did not. (In fact, I try to forget my physical product shipping days, lol) But Etsy did. And just like that, they adjusted 197 old USPS labels and charged me over $1,000+. Just a casual little financial jump scare. And honestly? It reminded me of something important about online business: Your business keeps score… even when you don’t. Old listings. Old systems. Old habits. Old “I’ll deal with that later” decisions. Sometimes they pay you. Sometimes they invoice you. That is basically selling online in a nutshell. Because running an online business is not just making cute products and waiting for cha-chings. It’s keeping track of what’s working, what’s outdated, what needs cleaned up, and what might come back from 2021 wearing a fake mustache asking for money. That’s why simple systems matter. Not because systems are exciting. They are not. They are the basic beige cardigan of business. But when you track your products, trends, SEO, files, and what’s actually converting, you make faster and better decisions. And faster, better decisions = less chaos and more cash. So here’s your reminder from my Etsy-induced emotional damage: Don’t just create. Track. Don’t just list and sell. Pay attention. Don’t build your business on chaos and vibes alone. Because the people who grow the fastest online usually are not doing the most. They’re keeping track of the right things. Anyway, I’m off to see what other ghosts of Etsy past are hiding in my account. 🙄 Rooting for you always, Bailey P.S. I have something really fun coming up about systems and listings, so keep an eye on your inbox, this one is different!
