Black Friday's Coming...
I’m cooking up something delicious. No leftovers. Something tasty and new. 25 seats at the table. That’s it. And because you’ve been here building this place with me, you get first access before it opens to the public. Curious? Drop 🔥 below and keep your eyes peeled as details unfold in the next few days...

Help me, help YOU. Help ME, help you!
I'm so glad to see this community coming together. I just want to make sure I'm creating resources that actually help. My journey as a writer has taken me through every stage of doubt/second-guessing and wild eyed confidence that flows each and every one of us! So I want to hear what vibes with you! What would be most helpful: - Getting the patient on the table -- finishing that messy first draft - Rewrites -- diagnosing what's broken and how to fix it - Character work -- my Emotional Authorship method (Wound→Lie→Healing) - Pitching & loglines -- grabbing attention without sounding desperate - Procrastination -- working with your brain instead of against it - Consistency over perfection -- showing up matters more than being brilliant. Stop beating yourself up. - Confidence -- facing the blank page when you feel like "who am I kidding?" - The business -- I can bring in my former agent and TV writers who taught at USC/AFI - Writing together -- body doubling sessions. Cams on, 30 minutes, no talking. Just write. - Using AI as a thinking partner -- I've built a GPT based on my coaching that helps you ask better questions about your story. Not to write it for you, but to show you new ways to think about it. Rave reviews from those who have tried it. You can find The Primal Forge GPT here, along with reviews. - Courses -- like The Full Journey (idea to finished script), Character Deep Dive, Rewrite Rescue, others? Drop a comment. What's keeping you up at night? What would actually move the needle for you? Let's make this place what you need it to be. Oh, and don't forget Story Hot Seat Monday at 10 a.m. PST where you bring whatever you're working on and get clear direction on how to move ahead. And we've got a Script Hot Seat with Vanlyfe by @Elliot Evans on Tuesday morning at 10 a.m. You can pick up that script here.

I would love to learn more about the business. How to even get an agent or to pitch. Where to pitch.
Monday Accountability - Weekly Goals
It's that time! Drop your goals for the week below. But... instead of setting huge goals, let's focus on setting small goals we can actually feel comfortable in committing to. Too often our enthusiasm gets the best of us. Write 4 hours every day is a damn fine goal... if you're Stephen King. But we are all about building consistency here. You're much much better off learning to write 30 min a day consistently, than 4 hours in a frenzy that quickly dies out. So, let's try setting goals 2 ways: 1. The big goal the voice in your head blurts out 2. What's the smallest realistic goal you can actually commit to and begin genuinely building a consistent practice based on.

Spending a few hours on my script such as character development, and reconstructing act 2 and 3
Let's kick off the week with Accountability. Check in below on what you're working on and goals for the week!
I'll go first. I have two scripts I finished recently that I need to get in the hands of producers -- Darken the Sun, a horror script, and Another, a Body Heat-style sexy, crazy thriller. Also working on a course for this community that walks people through how I think through a script and how you can use the same tools that I used throughout my career to take your own scripts to the next level. In addition, I'll be working hard to build this community and make it the most-helpful, most-productive #1 screenwriter community on Skool! What are YOU working on this week? What's your commitment?

I’m in research mode and getting to know my character and watching movies that help the style of my script
My First Week In The Writer's Forge!
One day shy of one week into The Writer's Forge, and I've already made more progress than I have in years, and that's not an exaggeration. Before joining, I'd been tossing ideas around, banging my head against the keyboard, and staring at blank pages (or refusing to even open a new doc). Basically, I was doing everything but writing for the last few years, and really getting mad at myself in the process. But in just this first week, I've managed to move past that fear and actually write again. Between feeling part of a community of writers and not alone on an island, and the incredibly helpful tips from our mighty professor, David, I'm waking up excited every day to see what my mind is ready to bring to the page. After our Friday Hot Seat, I walked away with so much helpful insight from the other writers and from David. A major takeaway from that convo was to write my first draft in paragraph format instead of trying to make it look like a script. My brain didn't like this at first. It fought against it, but as soon as I started typing yesterday, I wondered why I hadn't been doing this all along. It allowed the thoughts to flow out of my brain a lot easier than when I was trying to format and perfect everything. Here are a few things I've learned this week that have helped me tremendously: - Paragraph format for first draft, just get it out of your head and onto the page - Stop worrying about all the technical mumbo jumbo for now - Don't try to reinvent the wheel; just write the story that you're connected to - Show up, stay engaged with the group, and keep trying Sorry for the long post, but I'm so grateful for this group, for all the writers who are here, and for David's guidance. I wanted to share in case anyone here is hesitant to participate. A part of me barely recognizes the girl typing this, because I can't tell you how many times I've been too afraid to join groups or joined and stayed quiet out of fear. For whatever reason, I decided I was going to get over that fear and just try, and I can already (IN JUST ONE WEEK) feel my confidence in and my relationship with writing growing and evolving into something healthier.
