How to have even and structured pieces
So after a while of not being on the wheel, I can't make pieces that are of my desired shape and more importantly they are not even. I make sure to wedge the clay very thoroughly and get it centered on the wheel, both of which go well, but after getting them into cylinder shape and then widening it I Lose it all. The bottom and top would still be centered and even but when I look at it from the side it is wobbly uneven and some parts have more clay than the rest. If I continue fixing it it just gets ruined completely. Please help, any tips and steps on how I can avoid this???

Share something that you’ve worked on recently or something you’ve made, maybe a completed piece or work in progress or something you’re playing around with the studio! I made these mugs in December. I have been experimenting recently with black underglaze and how it works with my spectrum pearl white glaze. Generally, the black under glaze reacts and it turns beautiful cobalt/navy blue. This time I tried the underglaze spray in black and it did not disappoint’

My name is Aysha and I am a hs student. I had beg ceramics class last year and had the chance to be on the wheel, this year I have ceramics and am basically planning to be on the wheel till the end of the school year. I have made a few pieces but am struggling to make things that I intend to make in the beginning not things that I end up with after several triesπŸ˜… I once tried making a large bowl but ended up with a small traditional chinese tea cup at the endπŸ˜†(though it came out really beautifullyπŸ’™)

@Carla Lorence I would say around 120 hours in total. 1 hour for like 6 months of school.

I would like to know how to make different pieces in the wheel. Like I have been trying to make a set of dishes that are the same size and same shape, but it has been more challenging than I initially thought. Also some tips on how to make beautiful mugs, water jags, large pieces and what kind of clay to use would be really beneficial. I would greatly appreciate it if you could share advice and create content in these areas❀️
