Woke up to some good news I wanted to share with people who'd actually get it. Fueling the Night Shift just picked up its second review on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0HC52ZHYT, and it came from someone I'd connected with here on Skool. A while back I sent her a free copy and asked if she'd be willing to leave an honest review if the book moved her, no pressure either way. She read it and left the most genuine review. Titled it "Been there done that," joked that she'll never again send donuts to the ER as a thank-you, and said it's given her suggestions she still uses today. After the review went up, we got to talking, and that's when it really hit me. She mentioned she'd spent 2.5 years in and out of the hospital caring for her mom, and described it as basically having a baby: sleeping when they slept, sometimes just standing in the doorway at night watching and praying. She said there's nothing like living it to actually understand it. That's exactly the moment I wrote this book for: someone who's lived the exhaustion and the long nights, nodding along and saying yes, that's real. Turns out she's writing her own book too, about her mom's hospital experience. So this whole thing has just become two people who get it, cheering each other on. To her, and to everyone here who makes this a place worth showing up to: thank you.
