This is my grandmother, Louise Forrest Johnson. Yesterday would have been her 107th birthday. She was funny, straight to the point, and graceful. She was Black History in Atlantic City as the owner of one of only two Black dance schools. I miss her all the time, but when I dance, I feel her near. Happy Heavenly Birthday, Momma J! Who in your family is Black History?
I was late to work this morning. Why, you may ask? My chickens decided that it was high time that they get to live inside like everyone else (2dogs, 1 cat, and 1 potbelly pig). If your day isn't going as planned, be grateful that it didnt start with a lively game of "Get Outta My House!" followed by some vigerous cleaning.
How come we grow up and don’t show off our cool rocks anymore? This gorgeous piece is Pyrite, also known as Fool’s Gold. ✨ It’s often associated with courage, self-confidence, and abundance. For me, this is what everyday alchemy looks like— taking something simple and using it as a reminder of how I want to feel and move through my day. This pyrite sits where I can see it when I’m working, grounding me in confidence and possibility. Do you have any crystals (or objects) you use intentionally? 👀 Can I see?
I’m heading back to work after 17 glorious days of rest, and it really reminded me how rare that kind of reset is—especially for busy, capable people who carry a lot. So let’s check in: 🗳️ What’s your go-to way to recharge (or attempt to)? If none of these options fit you, feel free to write your answer in the comments 📝
