⚠️ PSA: Etsy Isn’t Playing — Protect Your Business Before It’s Too Late
My view: DONT DO IT or STOP DOING IT! Etsy used to shut down all shops tied to you if one got flagged...even other people in your household. But lately, I’ve noticed that backup shops aren’t being auto-closed like before. That doesn’t mean you're in the clear forever. If your current shop is at risk, open a backup shop now while you still can. I keep seeing post after post of people crying because their Etsy shop got shut down for selling copyright files. I get it. I’ve been there. I lost my own $10K/month Etsy store over this exact issue. So let’s be clear — this is your warning shot. 👉🏾 And no, it’s not Etsy randomly flagging your store. It’s usually a copyright holder (or their legal rep) who filed a takedown. These companies hire entire teams whose only job is to search platforms like Etsy for violations — and yes, even something as small as a graduation cap with school colors (without the official logo) can get you flagged. On top of that? Your COMPETITORS can report you too. Some folks are out here reporting shops just to knock out the competition. Etsy doesn’t get involved in the drama so save the customer service emails — their system is automated. If someone files a claim, Etsy acts fast. They don’t argue or mediate. They protect their own platform. Let me repeat that for the people in the back: 🎯 Even if you think the design is safe… 🎯 Even if you altered the graphic… 🎯 Even if it doesn’t have a logo...If the colors, theme, or recognizable marks can be traced to a brand, university, or media company — you're vulnerable. And when your shop is gone... it’s gone. No payout. No appeal. No warning. 💡 Here’s What I Did: After I lost my store, I shifted all my energy into a backup Etsy shop that had been sitting dormant for months. It was clean. No copyright files. No risk. Now that shop is finally growing, and I’m laser-focused on building it back up to $10K/month by January 2026 — but this time, it’s all original or safe-to-sell content. If you’re serious about building a digital business that lasts...
