Looking for Latch hook crochet teachers
I am posting a link to my video which shows how I teach individuals or groups to use a latch hook to crochet. It often takes about 5-10 minutes each. I had a group of 9 Brownies and 3 adults . They were all seated around a long table. I started by giving a quick demo of me crocheting a chain length into a bracelet. I then told them to repeat after me, lots of times, “ Yarn over Pincer fingers and back to your busy fingers” ….. it becomes a chant and I tell them to keep saying it their head. Next I explain, yarn over, pincer fingers and busy finger. What is yarn? Show me pincer fingers, and demonstrate how we take the loop along the hook and back under to the busy finger, while the latch closes and opens on its own. All point with dominant hand and show how we hold the hook while the pointing finger (‘ busy finger’ because it has an important job to do) it controls the loop on the hook. If it doesn’t do its job, the loop goes all over the place. I then teach each child starting with older or smartest kids, these often help the others when they know how. Every one waits and watches and joins in with the chant. Meanwhile while I am teaching, I am prompting, “busy finger, or pincer fingers” Within an hour most of them are able to make a bracelet. Some chains are long enough to make a necklace or I show them how it can be made into a flower. The adults usually pick it up fairly quickly and help the children too. You will need a rug hook each and lots of small balls of different coloured yarn. https://youtu.be/TowBfOgwFVQ?si=zwZxO42gMmINlyYa Note: I didn’t take photos of this Brownie group. Photos shows other beginners. Also this video was made 6 years ago, the way I teach now is slightly different using specific language etc.

I love your videos. You taught me how to use a latch as well as how to use my Tunisian hooks💜💜
Crochet Art…advanced!
Latch Hook Crochet Art During Covid 2020 I worked on my own crochet art using a fine latch hook. The one I used came as a latch hook tool for my knitting machine. I loved doing this, but my focus now is on teaching Latch Hook Crochet. I will be introducing more Cordcrochet once I have fathomed the best way to sell my Cordmaker. Moving from Shropshire, selling our smallholding, moving to rented accommodation In North Yorkshire, then buying and moving into our own house has been epic. Being overwhelmed with online learning, finding Skool and now Substack all takes time. CordCrochet will be on the menu and I look forward to sharing this new craft. Btw… you can order a Cordmaker straight from me! Or win one in our Easter Challenge!
