One Size - it doesn't fit all
I've been sitting, thinking and reflecting about how us professionals are seen as a "dog trainer/behaviourist' and how we are viewed as that one title. In our job, every single session is different, even if we go from one Labrador to another in the same day, whilst we may still be the professional trainer/behaviourist, our skill set, knowledge and training programme will all operate differently throughout each individual conversation we have, because your dog is an individual, so for us, it is never a one size fits all approach. So, with this in mind, I am opening myself up here, - how do you see me and describe me as your trainer/behaviourist?

New years resolution
Are you planning on making any as we head into 2026? Do you believe in them? Personally for me, I don't ever set a resolution for the New Year. I think the past 3 years especially, have taught me that you cannot plan to too many things, because life happens, and that is absolutely OK. I like to set myself some goals, and whilst it is nice to have an end date on them, they are flexible goals. So in 2026, for me, I want to; Become a better dog trainer and behaviour modification expert Play some golf - this is very much subject to my spinal disease Grow my SKOOL community Develop new courses and content Attend the Inside Out Synopsis in June (Tickets and hotel booked - this WILL happen) Now, with me, as always, there's a twist! What do you want to achieve with your dog next year, but you understand there is no time frame, because your dog needs you to go at their pace and advocate for them at all times! What are your 2026 plans?

I don’t set resolutions, as you’ve said things happen and change that’s outside of your control. Loki still has the same goal, less reactive towards people and dogs, but also looking at continuing his scent training and maybe man trailing but wanted to get your thoughts on the man trailing?

@James Hare his going really well and they are pleased with his progression, his been booked in for his ball removal on the 19-Jan 👍🏻 hopefully this won’t affect him too bad. It’s more me I think will I be strong enough with my rib but when I have surgery and recovered I might be ok 👍🏻 thank you 😃
Loose Lead Walking - EXTEND the length of the lead!
Loose lead walking can be a tough cookie to crack. It is about training, patience, repetition. But here's the thing, whilst we want our dog to walk beautifully by our side, we also need to incorporate what our dogs WANT and NEED into their training. Have a think, take a step back! Observe your dog.

This video reminds me of when you took Loki out in town on the long line 👍🏻 the needs of the pup is so hard to engage I find, this is where I struggle the most 😭

Loki is a beautiful young male dog, who sadly can’t greet others but with time and patience his big personality shows, his not grumpy.
