How to Prevent Infinite Loop Between Todoist and Notion Automations in Zapier
I’ve set up two Zaps to keep Todoist and Notion in sync: - Zap 1: When a new Todoist task is created, it’s added to my Notion task database. - Zap 2: When a new Notion task is created, it’s added to my Todoist task list. Individually, both Zaps work perfectly. However, when both are active, they create an infinite loop — tasks keep duplicating back and forth between Todoist and Notion. I tried adding a filter condition so each Zap only triggers if the task was created by my specific user ID (Boolean = True), but the issue persists. Has anyone found a reliable way to sync both apps without causing loops or duplicates?

This kind of loop is really common when syncing two apps like Todoist and Notion. What’s happening is that each Zap triggers the other again, creating a chain reaction. The simplest fix is to add a field in both apps, something like “Created by Zapier” or “Source.”When your Zap creates a task in Notion, set the source to “Todoist,” and when it creates one in Todoist, set it to “Notion.” Then in each Zap, add a filter so it only runs if the source is not the other app. That way, a task made by Zap 1 won’t trigger Zap 2 again. If you still need more control, you can use “Updated Item” triggers instead of “New Item,” or even use a tool like Make or n8n for two-way syncs. But for most cases, adding that source field and filter will stop the loop.
What Should API Query String Parameters Look Like in Zapier?
Hey everyone! 👋I’m brand new to Zapier and still learning the ropes with APIs. I’m using CoPilot to build a Zap that pulls all the appointments from my Acuity schedule for the current date and checks if those clients exist in my Airtable intake form database. I’ve worked a bit with APIs before, but I’m not fully confident about how the Query String Parameters should be formatted. Here’s my question: Are these query params supposed to look like this, or am I formatting them wrong? If anyone could share an example of how their Query Params are set up (or confirm if CoPilot is handling it correctly), that would really help me understand what’s going on. Thanks in advance! 🙏

@Sadique Chandio Yes, you’ve got it right! Setting your minDate and maxDate exactly as you’ve shown is the correct way to format query string parameters in Zapier. That setup will ensure the API only returns appointments for the specified date. If you’d like it to automatically pull data for the current date (instead of manually updating it), you can use a dynamic date field from your trigger step — for example, by mapping today’s date from the previous step. This keeps your Zap running smoothly without extra maintenance. Looks like CoPilot handled the setup correctly, great work getting this far!
