At my agency we use ai tools daily but it’s very important to still design some of the sections by hand Here is the list of things I’d avoid if you don’t want your website look cheap. 1. Purple-to-blue gradients. Especially on the headline text or big blurry blobs in the background. 2. The little pill badge above the hero headline. You know the one, "✨ Now with AI" sitting right on top of a centered headline. 3. Three identical feature cards in a row. Same icon style, same size, same three lines of text. Every AI site has this section. 4. Inter or the same default sans-serif everywhere. 5. Glassmorphism on everything. Frosted cards with soft borders and glow, even when it doesn't fit the brand at all. 6. Every section fades up the same way. Same animation, same timing, same delay. Real motion design has rhythm - some things should move slow, some fast, some not at all. 7. Perfectly even spacing. Every section is the same height with the same padding. It feels "correct" but flat, no breathing moments, no tension. 8. Copy that sounds like AI. "Unlock the power of...", "Elevate your...", "Fast. Simple. Powerful." And lots of long dashes everywhere 😅 9. Generic bento grids. Boxes just for the sake of boxes, with nothing actually telling a story. 10. Dark mode with neon glow. Looks cool for a second, then looks like a template. 11. Random cursive fonts. A script font dropped into one word of the headline to make it look "fancy" or "elegant." When it's not part of a real type system, it looks vibe coded right away. If a brand uses script, it needs a reason, and it has to be paired and sized with intention.
