What are you working on? 😎
After the last 3 months of exploring a “all stock Ableton everything” fetish, I’ve just reinstalled a bunch of my plugins and have been having a blast making music like a mad scientist/kid in a candy store. I’m curious… what are YOU working on?

Yesterday sketched out the skeleton track arrangement out of my 32 bar loop for COS. Gold advice from your Escape The Loop session to start with the overall frame bevor going into detail.

@Lex Christopherson With the rough sketch you get so fast to an arrangement outline and can imagine how the finished track can tell its story very early in the process.
CIRCLE OF SOUND: How R U Getting On?
15 OCTOBER Hello fellow creators! Just wanted to check in and see how everyone is doing now that we are over halfway through the second cycle of the games. Quick reminder: This coming Tuesday 15th we will be handing over the 32 bar loop we have created to the next member in our group. This 32 bar loop will have been created using ONLY sounds/samples that were supplied in the sound pack given to us by our team mate at the end of last cycle. How is everyone getting on? What challenges have you run in to? What have you enjoyed? I'm super excited to see what everyone is making ❤️ TEAM 1 @Døøms Ben glass @David Vannucci @Lex Christopherson TEAM 2 @Marius Kucharzak @Patrick Huitema @Phil Jones TEAM 3 @Pianika Tomlinson @Sylvain Le groux @Aretius Klosa TEAM 4 @Anton Kholomiov @Rachael Clare @Alex Grabiner TEAM 5 @Lindsay Frederiksen @Christoph Eike [We need another team mate] TEAM 6 @Michael Singleton @Ok Ok

MEET YOUR TEAMMATES: CIRCLE OF SOUND #1 🎶
[IMPORTANT: THE GAMES BEGIN ON TUESDAY 17. PLEASE TRY TO ATTEND THE GROUP CALL LISTED ON THE CALENDAR AS WE WILL BE EXPLAINING IN MORE DETAIL THE RULES] I'm happy to announce the teams for the first edition of the CIRLE OF SOUND community music production game suggested by @Aretius Klosa. The point of this game is to make a bunch of music as a community through an unusual collaboration procedure. The production process will be split into 5 stages; 1. Creating a soundpack (select no less than 10 sounds and no more than 30 sounds. These can be one shots, loops, musical loops, held synth note... etc. 2. Using the soundpack to come up with a 32 bar idea. Only use sounds you have received. Feel free to chop/reverse/pitch or whatever you need to do but only use the sound pack to create the idea. 3. Creating a full track arrangment from the 32 bar idea 4. Mixing the arranged song 5. Mastering the mixdown Every member of every group will do every stage at the same time. Every 2 weeks, you will export the audio stems of what you have created and pass it to the person below you on the list at the bottom of this post. IMPORTANT: EVERY STEP WILL REQUIRE YOU TO RENDER WHAT YOU HAVE TO AUDIO STEMS. THIS ENSURES CROSS DAW COMPATIBILITY. This cycle will progress for 10 weeks. Every 2 weeks everyone moves onto the next production stage using what they have been sent. So for example this means that during weeks 1 + 2, everyone will be tasked with creating a soundpack. In weeks 3 + 4, everyone will now be tasked with creating a 32 bar idea made with the soundpack passed to them by the team mate above them on the below list. In weeks 5 + 6, everyone will create an arrangement with the 32 bar idea they received from the team mate above them on the list... And so on. By the end of the 10-weeks, every member will have completed every one of the 5 stages and each group will have 3 finished songs. We will be holding a group Zoom call every 2 weeks so you can meet with your team mates in small breakout rooms and discuss how the process is going.

So true.
What piece of music do you think is really important and would recommend to each member in this community?
There is so much great music out there, and i'm always searching for new ones. In this case, im wondering, what is something that has tremendeous influence on you, or you think it is an essential album/track? And why? mine would be: Manuel Göttsching E2-E4 - for all kinds of musicians. this was recorded in 1981 in a one hour session. Released in 1984. Manuel went into his studio and an hour later he came out with this one hour long proto house classic, that sounds like nothing before or since.

Theo Parrish - Overyohead: This 12:53 piece is the one I personally like most from Theo because though minimal never boring though rude it’s carefully carved out though abstract it touches my heart. I don’t know what you think but imo there is so much to learn from it. Theo was a recommendation to me from LoSoul, a mate that studied civil engineering together with me back in the days in Darmstadt near Frankfurt/Main, Germany. Theo DJed at Cafekesselhaus in Darmstadt and I was told to go there 😉. (Side note: Later Theo did one of his rare remixes and remixed LoSouls classic hit “Open Door”.) Back at that time Theos music was absolutely unique to my ears bringing soul to the evolving technical and minimal german scene around Frankfurt/Main (which I also liked). Theo brought both worlds sooo together. Since then I started buying nearly every (expensive) 12” from him but for me this one is unequalled (like it’s often with the first piece of music of an artist I like and listen to).

@Bal Fivethousand Yeah, man, open door is also a true classic. While trying to produce own pieces back then open door constantly was invading my mind and every try was directed into a bad copy of it😬. LoSoul also had this other track from his first album, where he stole the bassline from Billie Jean, forgot the name of the track. After a Super_Collider concert at a club at Hamburgs Reeperbahn Cristian Vogel played this track and Jamie Lidell was doing Michaels Billie Jean lyrics. O man, what a night...🤩

Hi, I´m an urban planner, former DJ and aspiring composer/producer. I love all kinds of electronics but my heart burns for the raw Detroit housevibes.
