How to Think It Through ‼️ NEW SERIES ON YOUTUBE🔬📚🧪
Looking for extra ASCP practice questions? I've started a new YouTube series called "How to Think It Through," where I work through ASCP-style questions from MediaLab/LabCE and show you exactly how I approach each question, eliminate answer choices, identify key clues, and reason my way to the correct answer. These videos are designed to help you strengthen your critical thinking skills and become a more confident test-taker; not just memorize information. Topics include Hematology, Blood Bank, Chemistry, Microbiology, Parasitology, Immunology, Coagulation, and more. Subscribe to my YouTube channel:https://www.youtube.com/@marilynthescientist Then click on the "How to Think Through Questions" playlist to find the videos. I'm releasing one each Friday! Don't forget to pause the video, answer the question yourself first, and then compare your thought process with mine. Let's think it through together. xoxo, Marilyn (PS. I just filmed Mycology today and it will be released Friday June 19th 🥳)

Greetings Gang 🔬🥳 I want to hear from you. As we continue growing Microscope Views, I want to make sure I'm creating resources that actually help you pass your exam. So tell me: What would you like to see more of in this community? • More live study sessions? • More study guides/PDFs? • More flow charts? • More exam-taking strategy? • More ASCP recalls? • More videos? • More microscopy and morphology content? • More Blood Bank? • More Chemistry? • More Hematology? • More Microbiology? What's currently helping you the most? And more importantly... What's still missing? Drop your thoughts below. I read every comment, and many of the resources in this community have been created directly from your feedback. Let's build the community you wish you had when you first started studying. xoxo, Marilyn

Will taking practice exams on LabCE alone help you pass or should it be combined with more materials?

The MLS "Big Four" Strategy: Can your strengths hit the 400 mark? 🎯
If you’re studying for the MLS exam, you’ve probably stared at the content guidelines and felt overwhelmed. Seven disciplines, 100 questions, and that intimidating 400-point passing score. But here is the secret to the "Math" of the MLS exam that will change how you study: 1. The Power of the "Big Four" According to the ASCP guidelines, the MLS exam is heavily weighted toward four major areas: - Blood Banking: 17 – 22% - Chemistry: 17 – 22% - Hematology: 17 – 22% - Microbiology: 17 – 22% Combined, these four disciplines make up nearly 80% of your exam. If you master these, you are already most of the way to that 400-point total. 2. The "Cumulative" Safety Net The ASCP uses Computer Adaptive Testing (CAT). It doesn't care if you "fail" a specific section like Urinalysis or Lab Ops. It only cares about your Total Ability Measure. If your knowledge in Microbiology is "Level 3" (Problem-Solving), those high-difficulty points can compensate for a "Level 1" (Recall) performance in a smaller section. 3. The 400-Point Rule Make no mistake: 400 is the non-negotiable threshold. You don't need to be perfect in everything, but your total weighted performance across all 100 questions must hit that mark. Let’s Talk Strategy: We all have that one "Nightmare Section" that gives us actual anxiety. 1. Which of the "Big Four" is your strongest? (The one you're counting on to carry your score). 2. Which section is your "Weak Link" that you're hoping your strengths will cover? Comment your answers below! Let's see which disciplines are the most common safety nets and struggles in our community. -Marilyn
