WT2: What is your opinion?
QUESTION: Some people think that students should learn art in school, while others believe it is a waste of time. What is your opinion? RESPONSE: While some individuals believe that students ought to learn art in school, others argue that it is just a waste of time. In my opinion, students should definitely learn art in school because it contributes significantly to a child’s overall development. Firstly, studying art nurtures creativity and imagination in young learners. When students draw, paint, or create designs, they learn to express their thoughts and emotions in unique ways. This process also enhances critical thinking and problem-solving skills. For instance, students who engage in artistic activities often perform better in other subjects, such as writing stories or designing experiments in science, because they are accustomed to generating original ideas. Therefore, learning art equips students with skills that are valuable across multiple areas of life. Secondly, art education provides students with insights into different cultures and historical periods. By exploring traditional paintings, sculptures, or crafts, students gain a deeper understanding of how people lived in the past and what they valued. Personally, during high school, my art teacher encouraged us to study traditional Taiwanese art, which helped me appreciate our cultural heritage and understand the lifestyles of people in previous generations. This experience not only increased my cultural awareness but also taught me to respect and value diversity. In conclusion, I firmly believe that art should remain an integral part of school education. It allows students to express themselves creatively, develop critical thinking, and gain a greater understanding of culture and history. These skills are crucial for cultivating well-rounded individuals capable of adapting to future challenges. Hi there, you may also want to use these words in sentences. I’d like to share some examples relevant to IELTS Writing Task 2 topics: ** intend – Many governments intend to reduce pollution by introducing stricter environmental regulations. ** intended – This policy is intended to encourage people to use public transportation instead of private cars. ** intention – The intention behind this law is to improve public health and safety. ** intentionally – Some companies intentionally ignore environmental standards in order to reduce production costs.
How to write the high score essay?
I attend tutoring sessions about three times a week. Recently, I have been asking my tutor how to write a high-scoring IELTS essay. I questioned the relevance of certain arguments because I wasn't satisfied with the model answers I found. My tutor gave me an example: if the topic is Global Warming and the prompt asks “What can people do to address this issue?”and I argue that 'Schools should offer courses on environmental friendly , the tutor says this won't get a high score because the subject is wrong. Does anyone agree with this commend?

Hi there. I also kind of agree with your tutor, and as Teacher G said, the essay must answer the exact question. So, if the question asks “What can people do to address global warming?”, the examiner expects actions that individuals can personally do. If you want to make it more specific, you may put more emphasis on using public transportation, reducing electricity consumption, recycling waste, etc. *** Obviously, these are direct actions people can take. That said, your idea is not completely wrong. It simply needs to be connected to individuals more clearly. For example, you may say that people can learn about environmental protection through school courses, which can encourage them to reduce waste and save energy in their daily lives. ==> With this, the focus returns to people’s actions, which matches the question better. In relation to this, what do high-scoring IELTS essays usually do? ====> They answer the question directly, present clear main ideas, explain each idea, and give a simple example when necessary. The key lesson here is that your tutor’s advice is mainly about staying focused on the task. This is because even a good idea can lower your score if it does not match the exact question. Keep Writing!!

It would also be great if you could use them in sentences. 🙂 nutrient (n.) – a substance that provides nourishment essential for growth and life Example: Vegetables contain important nutrients that help the body stay healthy. nutrition (n.) – the process by which people or living things obtain nutrients from food Example: Good nutrition is essential for children’s growth.
