📹 Reflection Post: Dr. Gabor Maté — ADHD, Addiction, Autoimmune Diseases & Trauma
https://youtu.be/PLvCXIvgrGQ?si=AM7vc9kyf4WMG7ol I want us all to watch this video together and reflect on some of the powerful insights shared by Dr. Gabor Maté about how childhood experiences and environments influence our adult lives, including attention differences, addiction, health, and the ways we manage stress. Dr. Maté is a world-renowned physician and trauma expert who highlights that: - Conditions like ADHD, addiction, and autoimmune challenges are shaped not just by biology but by early life experiences and stress. - Childhood environments — especially unsafe, stressful, or emotionally unsupported ones — can impact how the brain and body develop and respond later in life. - Healing begins not with judgment, but with understanding the root causes and learning how to meet needs in healthier ways. This conversation goes beyond labels and diagnoses to talk about growth, awareness, and change. 🤔 Community Discussion Questions 1️⃣ What stood out to you most about how childhood conditions influence adult behaviors and health? For example, was there something new you learned about ADHD or addiction? 2️⃣ Dr. Maté says we should ask “why the pain” instead of “why the addiction.”How does shifting your question change the way you think about struggles (either your own or someone else’s)? 3️⃣ What experiences from your past — big or small — have shaped how you respond to stress or emotional needs today? How do you see those patterns in your life? 4️⃣ Dr. Maté talks about unmet needs being met in harmful ways. What are some healthier ways you’ve found to meet your own needs (emotional, physical, or social)? 5️⃣ If you could tell your younger self one thing about how the world shaped you, what would it be?How might that insight help you grow now? 💬 When or if you post your thoughts: - Be honest but compassionate with yourself - Feel free to comment on others’ reflections - There’s no right or wrong answer — this is about understanding and growth

Introductions
🌟 Welcome to Consciously Connected! Hi everyone! My name is April Bartlett. I’m 41 years old — a wife, mother, grandmother, and entrepreneur. I started this community because I saw a need to develop intentional connection — not just for myself, but for others as well. People need support now more than ever. There’s an African proverb that says: “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.” I truly believe this to be true. Here, we are going far together. Let’s work to support, build, heal, and grow together. To get started, please introduce yourself and share one win you had this week. 💖 My win this week: I created this community! Can’t wait to hear from all of you — let’s make this a place of connection, growth, and encouragement!
