I’m not one to gatekeep, so let me tell you the secret to going on brand trips even if you’re starting with literally zero followers! I’ve already been on three brand trips this year, and not a single brand asked me about my follower count One of them was a trip to Paris with NIVEA. They paid for my transport, hotel and dinners, gave me loads of products AND paid me four figures on top of that.😍 And no, I wasn’t invited because I’m an influencer. I was invited because I’m a UGC creator!! With UGC, brands aren’t paying for your audience. They’re paying for your creativity and your content skills. I’ve worked with brands like Dr. Jart+, Pepsi, Ben & Jerry’s, MAC Cosmetics and Clinique through UGC—with only around 300 followers on my UGC account. So, how do you actually get brands to find and hire you?🤔 💖1. Build a strong portfolio You can create a free portfolio in Canva, but don’t rush it just so you can start pitching ASAP. Your content is your leverage, so focus on quality. Take time to practise filming and editing, and only include work you’re genuinely proud of. Five strong videos are way better than ten average ones! 💖2. Promote your work on social media Once you’ve created strong content, start posting consistently on TikTok and Instagram. You don’t need thousands of views, the goal is to show brands what you can create. Share your work, try different UGC formats and show your personality. Because if you don’t post your work, how are brands supposed to find you? 💖3. Increase your findability through SEO and hashtags Make sure brands can actually find you. Put “UGC creator” in your bio and use relevant keywords in your captions, on-screen text and videos, such as “Dutch UGC creator” or “beauty UGC creator.” Use specific hashtags instead of only broad ones like #fyp, and make sure your email address and portfolio link are easy to find! 🌟That’s the biggest difference between UGC and influencer marketing: your content is your leverage, not your follower count.
